Innovation is what gives businesses the competitive advantage the company will need to be profitable in the market. Innovation impacts the strategy, process, products and services that a company has to offer. Three organizations that have greatly used innovation are Discover Financial Services, Apple Inc, and McDonalds.

Discover Financial Services

Discover Financial Services or better known as Discover Card has been the innovation force in the credit card industry. Discovers innovative business plan has not only made them a successful independent company, but they have set the standard in the credit card business. Discover was the first credit card that offered a cash back bonus to their card users. For each purchase or charge a person puts on their discover card they will receive a free percentage back for choosing to uses their Discover Card.

The idea of cash back has grown and evolved but it is now a standard expectation for customers. The cash back idea was a challenge at first, because it was a new idea and it cost a lot for Discover to start. However the innovative idea of paying card members for using their discover card, created a loyal customer base and made Discover a leader in the credit card industry, changing the processes and services a credit card provides.

Apple Inc.

Apple Inc has been a computer company with ups and downs in its career. There innovative ideas have always been bold and fresh for a computer hardware/software company. In the 90’s Apple started a campaign to give the Apple a lead on Microsoft, however this idea did not have the outcome that was
