My basketball coach he was a good coach a positive man. He motivated us, he helped us outside of school, he was also a caring coach and he respected him for that.…
A person who has had a significant influence on me in my life would have to be my former foster mother, Miss Barbara Pratt. Ms. Pratt was a foster mother to many children before myself and she had had wonderful success with most of them. I had been in an extremely abusive relatives home before I had been placed in Ms. Pratt’s home. When it was discovered that I was in an abusive home I was first placed in a group home in Cincinnati. Social Services worked very hard to find me a home that would help me adjust to a ‘normal’ life as quickly and easily as possible. They found the home my older sister had been placed in, they contacted Ms. Pratt and I was placed in her care.…
There are different people in the world who have impacted students’ life. In my 9 years of school, there has been one teacher that I really loved and she really impacted on my life by the way she handled things and how she lived her life. Her name was Mrs. Hollenbaugh. She impacted my life because she would always encourage us to stick to our dreams and also because she would take responsibility unlike some people and own up to her mistakes. But she would learn from that mistake and become a better person by not doing that mistake again.…
One person who has been very influential in my life is Ms. Toni Gallow. Ms. Gallow is my former physical science teacher. She has inspired me so much. Not only did she teach me regularly in class, she taught me a lot about life. Ms. Gallow was very caring, unlike most teachers at Buckeye Trail. Ms. Gallow always encouraged her students to be the best they could be.…

My teachers are a vital component of my education. Without them, there is no reason to attend Xavier. In Mr. Cosden's honors English II class, I have learned so much already! His class is one of the most challenging that I have taken. His kindness, brilliant mind, and curiosity is an inspiration to me. As I continue to learn from him this year, I hope to be just as smart as him someday. My Chinese teacher, Ms. Chen (aka Lao Shi) is such a sweet, patient, and caring teacher. Her class is the reason why I…
The teacher that has had the most impact on me is Mrs. Carrie, better known as Mrs. “Cool Cat” Carrie. Mrs. Carrie was my second grade teacher. I don’t think I knew at the time how great she was at her job, but looking back it isn’t hard to see. Mrs. Carrie was creative in her lessons and clearly loved her job.…
My middle school volleyball coach has been the most influential person in my life. In 6th grade I had never picked up a volleyball until the day of tryouts. Miraculously I made the team. Coach Brittany helped to build up my confidence and helped to greatly build up my skills. I made the team again in seventh grade. This year turned out to be a bit harder. I was suppose to play middle front, which I loved dearly, but I didn't understand the transitions off the net, so she got mad at me in front of everyone and switched my position. It was one of the most embarrassing and humbling experiences of my life. That year I learned to love a position that I originally hated and Coach Brittany said to me, " When you're not the best, if you work hard,…
The teacher that had the most impact on me was Mark Whitney. Before I came to MiraCosta college, I was in Japanese high school which I hated it. I saw some of the teachers are very unhelpful and passionless, and they did not care about me since my score was always the low group in the entire student of the same grade. They pretended to care about my, but every time I knew it was a lie. Therefore, I did not expect that much about the professors when I first came here. However, when I started taking his class the way I think changed a lot. First of all, he was passionate about teaching, which surprised me. Now, after taking so many Child Development classes I know most of the professors are very passionate and helpful for me, but at that time,…
Looking back on my education, there are plenty of teachers that I felt were effective in getting me to learn material, but I will mention just two. Teacher A was my 8th grade and 10th grade math teacher. He didn’t necessarily make math easier in any way, but he made math much more fun because you looked forward to going to his class. Teacher A always used simple jokes, often requiring a very dry humor, which made me constantly pay attention in class so I could catch his different jokes. He also had the ability to demand respect in his class without ever really enforcing anything. He was simply such an amazing teacher that everyone respected his class and no one ever acted up. Teacher B, my 8th grade science teacher, also had a big impact on my education for the better. I enjoyed going to her classes because she was able to connect with me and a few of my friends on more of a personal level. She took an interest in our lives and made sure we were all on the path toward better futures. She, unlike Teacher A, demanded respect in her classroom in more of an authoritative way. Her students knew that if they acted up, she would not skip a beat to send them to the office, resulting in very few problems.…
In all my years of volleyball, there have been four very important coaches that I got the privilege of playing for. They molded me into the player I am today. I love them dearly and appreciate them more than they realize. I never would have gotten here without them. They have pushed me hard and there…

In high school I had a coach, not the best one someone could ask for, he always tried to push me to quit. I wanted to quit so many times throughout my 4 years. One experience where he yelled at me in front of the crowd at an away game is the most memorable because it made me walk out of the gym. It was a different thing at every game or practice. Some people might think this is a bad experience, and it was. Looking back at it and seeing where I came from to where I am now it taught me to better myself. It taught me to be persistent and never to back down from something you love to do. No matter if it were/was school, sports, or a summer job I wanted. It taught me to stick with whatever I want to do and push through even in the hardest time.…
