The Babylonian, Enuma Elish, and the Canaanite group of poems, Baal Cycle, are both mythological works in which a storm god battles a dragon-like monster. This war between storm gods and dragon-like monsters show readers similarities from one culture to the next. The classification in each work illustrates a specific scene in which a dragon-like monster and a storm god have a hostile encounter with one another. In Enuma Elish, Tiamat, the dragon-like creature, better known as the sea, is up against Marduk, the king who we know as the storm god. Likewise, in the Baal Cycle, Yam, who is the sea, faces Baal, another storm god. Both works show the idea that storm gods represent order, while the sea, having dragon-like features, represents chaos. In Enuma Elish, Tiamat loses the battle against Marduk while the same thing happens in the Baal Cycle with a storm god, Baal, overpowering the sea, Yam. Though these are two mythological selections that come from different cultural backgrounds, they show major similarities of the head-to-head- battle amongst a dragon-like creature facing the deep sea.…

The actual Steiner ethos is to provide an unhurried and creative learning environment where children can find the joy in learning and experience the richness of childhood rather than early specialisation or academic hot-housing. Routines form a key part as does a blend of adult-directed and child-initiated play. Manufactured toys are not to be used as these are thought to inhibit children natural curiosity and imagination. Formal reading and writing does not begin until a child is 7 years old and there is emphasis on working according to children’s personalities. The approach works well for all children irrespective of academic ability, class, ethnicity or religion. It takes into account of the needs of the whole child – academic, physical, emotional and spiritual. It’s based on an understanding of the relevance of the different phases of child development. It’s supposed to develop a love of learning and enthusiasm for school. This approach is respected world wide for its ability to produce very able young people who have a strong sense of self and diverse capacities that enable them to become social and economically responsible…

D: Introduction As a teacher living in a highly religious state, it is important for me to know more about the main religions in Utah. The two most prevalent, being the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) and the Catholic faith. I would like to know more about their beliefs, holidays, and family traditions. Some of the main beliefs in the LDS culture are Jesus is the Savior of all man, The Word of Wisdom, and the church was restored by their Prophet Joseph Smith. Some of the main beliefs for the Catholic faith are the Bible, the different Saints, and baptism. There are many holidays that are celebrated by both religions. Both Catholics and LDS members celebrate Christmas and Easter. The LDS faith in Utah has a special state holiday that is called pioneer day. The Catholic faith celebrates a holiday called All Saints Day. The third theme that I am going to look at in each faith is family traditions. Both cultures have a lot of respect for family traditions and rituals. In the LDS faith some of the main ideas are Family Home Evening, Genealogy, and keeping the Sabbath Day holy. In the Catholic faith, some of the favorites are Lent, 1st communion and Prayer or grace. I will take a more in depth look at all of these areas throughout my paper. E. Results First, I would like to take a look at the beliefs of the LDS Church starting with Jesus as their Savior. The LDS people believe that Jesus was sent to earth to be a Savior of all souls (Smith & Pratt, 1986). He was born to the Virgin Mary and led a giving and amazing life. The LDS church believes that Jesus Christ died for the sins of the entire world and in that, created…
