The brotherhood of Amir and Hassan was hinted throughout the whole of the book. The reader would first suspect they were brothers on page 27 when the writer says, "Baba gave us each a weekly allowance of ten Afghanis and we spent it on warm Coca-Cola and rosewater ice cream topped with crushed pistachios."Hassan is only Baba's servant boy, why would he feel the need to buy nice things for him. This makes the reader wonder if they could possible be brothers because they fed from the same breast. "Ali was sterile... I'm thirty-eight years old and I just found out my whole life is one big fucking lie!"(Amir p.222-223) The readers thoughts about Amir and Hassan's brotherhood is confirmed in the end of this chapter. So finding out that Hassan was his brother only confirmed his jealousy. Amir should realized he and Hassan where brothers when baba said, "Hassan's not going anywhere, he'd barked.
