Introduction

A government career with the PNP will mean many things to you: opportunity to make a real difference to the people in your community; variety of work and assignments; satisfaction with your career; and, pride in being part of one of the noble professional organization.

The police service is a noble profession which demands from its members specialized knowledge and skills, as well as high standards of ethics and morality. Hence, the members of the PNP must adhere to and internalize the enduring core values of love of God, respect for authority, selfless love and service for people, sanctity of marriage, and family life, responsible dominion and stewardship over material things, and truthfulness.

According to ( pnp.gov.ph), it is the PNP’s response to the call of the national government to improve the quality of life of the people. It is part of a bigger strategy that outlines the grand plan of the government in meeting the demands and expectations of the public through service delivery. By this, the deployment and employment of the PNP personnel require the organization and its members to bare their stand on the basic issues.

Regardless of who you are, any human being may be persuaded, even those who consider themselves an expert in a particular field. Often police officers have a confidence or feeling of imperviousness, especially those who have been in law enforcement for longer periods of time, within an organization. This confidence, on one hand, can keep an edge that is required in a line of work such as law enforcement. On the other hand, this confidence comes with a healthy dose of invulnerability, or the feeling of being able to see through rhetoric, persuasion, influence, or any type of tactic used to convince, as transparent. This is a handy skill when talking to deceptive people. The truth of the matter is, even those who deal with deception on a daily…

There are many issues facing today 's police officer. Some include the police use of excessive force, deadly force, police corruption, police pursuits and other popular police related topics. While all of these have problem areas, there are two police topics that touch on all the above issues, police oath of office and the code of ethics. The public is concerned over its own ethics and morality because it has no trust in its leaders. There has never been another time when police officers and political leaders were viewed by the public with as much distrust. There has also never been a greater need for the police to understand their oath of office and to be trained in ethical decision making as well as ethical behavior. Police ethics is an issue of how to behave. The oath is a sworn commitment to act in an ethical manner. You can 't have one without the other being affected. A Dutch philosopher, Benedict De Spenoza said, "Because God is infinite and the creator of all, understanding God is the most important goal in life. Those who understand God will desire good for others and behave ethically toward them"…
