While most people might take offense at being labeled as a loner, Aquarius don’t mind one bit. They prefer to be by themselves and their favorite moments of the day are the ones filled with silence. They are incredibly smart people and hard-working, so you will probably find that many Aquarius people are lawyers because they don’t mind working long hours and they also don’t mind making people mad. Even though they don’t like confrontation, they will go head-to-head with someone if it means that they’re sticking up for what they believe in. You will probably see this zodiac sign the least in social situations because an Aquarius would rather spend the night alone than go to a party where they have to make meaningless chit chat.…

In astrology, Aries is considered a new beginning and, in turn, begins John Gardner’s novel (Heindel 163). This chapter focuses on the cyclical nature of astrology. According to Grendel, this is the twelfth year of his “idiotic war” (Gardner 5). He notes that this year will, more than likely, be just like all those before it and also says the same of the ram. The ram is the symbol of Aries (Levine). To emphasize the cycle of his life, Grendel says “So it goes with me day by day and age by age… Locked in the deadly progression of moon and stars” (Gardner 8). This quotation also includes the subtle nod to astrology. He mentions the cycle of going down to attack the village and how, afterwards, repairs will be made to the village.…
