Zigbee Wireless Technology Analysis
developed and developing regions in maintaining safety,

smooth traffic flow, and an environmental friendly and

sustainable urban environment. Advanced systems for

preventing accidents via vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to- infrastructure communications are significant, but are being

positioned in relation to growing cellular connectivity for

vehicles.

Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are

advanced applications which, without embodying

intelligence as such, aim to provide innovative services

relating to different modes of transport and traffic

management and enable various users to be better informed

and make safer, more coordinated, and 'smarter' use of

transport networks by applying information and

II. COMPONENTS USED

A.Zigbee Wireless Technology:

Fig 1: Xbee module

In earlier days the application of the wireless

technology was limited mostly to simple point to point

communication only replacing the cable based

communication systems. The entire communication system

itself became complex after the introduction of the

computer and communication system based on computers.

Several complex networked communication systems like

LAN, WAN, PAN etc. came into use. To replace the cable

based network communication system with wireless

technology demands the design of complex wireless

devices and wireless network protocols.ZigBee is the name

of a wireless protocol maintained by the IEEE 802.15

standard. This is a protocol specified for wireless Personal

Area Network (PAN) using low powered wireless

transceivers. There are already wireless transmitter

Zigbee devices are often used in mesh

network to transmit data over longer distances and passing

data through intermediate devices to reach more distant

ones .Any Zigbee device can be tasked with running a

network. Zigbee is targeted at applications that require a

low data rate, long battery life, and secure networking.

Zigbee has a defined rate of 250 Kbps, best suited for

periodic or intermittent data or a single signal transmission

from a sensor or input device. The technology defined by

the Zigbee specification is intended to be simpler and less

expensive than other WPAN, such as Bluetooth, WiFi.

Types of Zigbee devices:

Zigbee co-ordination (ZC):

There is exactly one Zigbee coordinator in each

network since it is the device that started the network

originally. It stores information about the network,

including acting as the trust center and repository for

security keys. The Zigbee coordinator for the central

controller is in this

The foundation of any network is some sort of pathway for digital data (bits) to move back and forth between connected agents. Cables, ranging from coaxial to optical, have long dominated this realm. However, wireless is increasingly emerging as a viable alternative to direct physical connection (Stanford University, 2003). Wireless includes many various mediums such as AM, FM, HD and SiriusXM radio. Broadcast and satellite TV, and most, if not all, internet access and cellphones, are now wireless.…

ZigBee is a standard defined by the IEEE ( Institure of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) back in 1998. When a group of big guy say WiFi and Bluetooth might not be suitable enough for some applications, they started to define new protocol, new standard. ZigBee aim to have lower data rate compared to Bluetooth, at 250Kbps (Bluetooth is 1Mbps back then, now is higher with EDR-Enhanced Data Rate). More importantly, ZigBee aims for lower power applications which should offer years (2 to 3 years) of operation on non-rechargeable battery and it can connect to more nodes (2 ^ 16 = 16-bit address > 65,000); while Bluetooth only offers 8 devices connection in piconet. ZigBee designed for control and monitor while Bluetooth for cable replacement. ZigBee uses RF (Radio Frequency) to communicate. There are 3 frequencies available, 2.4GHz – which we are using in Malaysia (this is actually world wide frequency and it is sharing with Bluetooth and WiFi), 915MHz – For America, forbiden in Malaysia and the last frequency is 868MHz – For Europe, again forbiden in Malaysia too. So what the hack for me to know all these technical stuff? OK, you can forget about it, let’s talk about XBee.…

Zigbee is an established set of specifications for wireless personal area networking (WPAN), i.e. digital radio connection between computers and related devices. WPAN low rate or zigbee provides specifications for devices that have low data rates, consume very low power and thus characterized by long battery life. zigbee makes possible completely networked homes where all devices are able to communicate and controlled by a single unit personal computers may be connected to a local area network (LAN), either by a cable or a wireless connections.…

What properties differentiate human language from all other forms of signaling and what properties make it a unique type of communication system? There have been a number of attempts to determine the defining properties of human language and different lists of features can be found. The following is a slightly modified list of features proposed by the linguist Charles Hockett: 1. Arbitrariness. It is generally the case that there is no 'natural' connection between a linguistic form and its meaning.…
