“The Laguna way” is a peaceful and harmony filled way to love one another and get along as well as possible. “In the old- time pueblo world, beauty was manifested in behavior and in ones relationships with other living beings, beauty was a much feeling of harmony as it was visual, aural, or sensual effect” The reader later discovers that the pueblo people are hard working and being different did not not matter, therefore imagine how different the mentality of the pueblos we're compared to ours and in the story there is controversy with a photographer where it was shown that being different was not a good thing and was an uncommon sight to see. Silko also states how she isn't even necessarily embarrassed of the situation but it was simply just the fact that it had happened and she had known why in the first paragraph. The way the pueblo people interact with each other as individual develops an idea and progression because it compares how different the culture of the pueblo people with people of the Western world. Cultures are very diverse and in parts of the story it includes interactions with grandma Amooh who is a good example of the way the pueblos would interact at home in another paragraph it states “I had sensed immediately that something about my appearance was not acceptable for some people, white and Indian but I did not see any signs of strain or anxiety in the face of my beloved Grandma Amooh, this is a good example of what it is like for someone to grow up in a peaceful culture it just looks past parents and accept everyone surrounded as individuals to develops that diverse
