UNIT 1 INDIVIDUAL PROJECT
Abstract
The Founding Fathers played a pivotal role in our countries foundation. These men were activist of their times. The literature they produced such as the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution we live under today were all penned during the Enlightenment Era. Each of these powerful documents changed the course of America’s history and helped in establishing our country’s independence.

WHY DID THE GREAT EXPERIMENT OF DEMOCRACY SUCCEED
The Constitution republic that was envisioned by the Founding Fathers became a place of liberty and opportunity for countless millions of people from all over the world (Our Ageless Constitution, 1987). Their ideas worked whereas others failed because they were based on enduring principles which recognized human imperfection and the need to structure a limited government of laws, dependent upon the consent of a people who, themselves, understood the principles (Our Ageless Constitution, 1987). The principals acknowledged that individual rights are derived from a Creator. The principals were largely based on the enduring principals compatible with “the laws of nature and of nature’s God. The principals also recognized human imperfection and that a tendency to abuse power is ever present in the human heart (Our Ageless Constitution, 1987). These principals also restrained those in power through a written Constitution which carefully divided, balanced, and separated the powers of government and then intricately knitted them back together again through a system of checks and balances.
