World Smile Day
‘Do an act of kindness, help one person smile.’
The above is the catch phrase of the World Smile Day. This is the day to forget all sorrow and be happy. No one is sad on this day. Certificates titled ‘You have been smiled’ are sent out all over the world.

Last year I was given a project on the ‘Power of Smile’ in school. Making ppts is something I really love. So, I did thorough research on the project and got a lot of useful information and now I want to share this with you.

All of us are familiar with the smile face, aren't we? This was originally developed by Harvey Ball. The smiley became world famous and was featured on TV. But, Harvey Ball felt that people were misunderstanding the original thought behind the image.

He decided to set up a World Smile Day.

We celebrate World Smile Day each year to recall the original “mission” Smiley had, that was to reflect what we all hope to see in the face of others – a SMILE. Smiley helps us remember and use the power of a smile.
A smile is nothing but a natural expression that shares our happiness with others. And the best thing about it is that it can be given free!
So, from 1999 World Smile Day is celebrated every year on the first Friday of every October. This year it was celebrated on 4th October.

Just because it comes only once in a year it does not mean that we should not smile on other days. In fact, Harvey Ball himself once said that we must make every day a world smile day.

I would like to conclude this with a short poem –
“The Power of rage can rise inside
Until it tears you apart.
But, the power of smile

Can heal sad hearts.”

The smile only comes from those whom have reached the awakening and the understanding of life. “The Buddha walked away and his look and half-smile remained imprinted on Siddhartha’s memory forever…a man only looks and walks like that when he has conquered his Self,” (Hesse, pg. 29). Once Siddhartha saw Buddha smile he knew he had reached his peace, his enlightenment, and everything he had been striving for. He now feels one with himself. The smile also represented enlightenment because after he taught Govinda how to find the peace, Siddhartha himself had smiled. The gift of the smile has finally pushed Siddhartha into the peace he is needed to complete his journey. He has finally reached his long awaited enlightenment…

The four types of personal appearance are: How we see ourselves, how we dress and groom ourselves, How others see us and react or respond, and How we think, feel, and act or behave. These four aspects of personal appearance explain how people feel more comfortable to show what kind of person they may be and to be presentable. Self-appreciation is the first step of making people desperate is by showing their personality in public by having poise and gestures. Also, according to Nardostekle, one smile can make all difference in the world. One smile has the power to release stress, being attractive, and make someone look stronger in their appearance. A facial expression is the movement of the muscles beneath a person’s skin and it often demonstrates someone’s state of mind. For example if a person is upset they may look down and have upwardly slanted eyebrows and a frown. On the other hand a person who is happy will probably smile and have crescent-shaped eyes. Eye-to-eye contact can also show how a person is feeling or what they may be thinking. If a person avoids eye contact it may indicate that they are upset or annoyed, whereas a person who has wide eyes may suggest that they are excited. Facial expressions can help professionals understand how a person may be feeling or thinking. It is also very important that professionals show the right facial expressions too, for example they should smile when speaking to someone to show that they are interested and happy to be with them. This will help the person’s self-esteem and to build a strong and trusting relationship so they can share any personal information. (Wikipedia, 2015) (Carolyn Aldworth,…

We have all had one of those days. The days where you just want to go hide under your covers, and block out the world. Those days where we have a lot to do and no time at all. That old woman that just cut you off, or that ticket you just received for speeding to work is just the cherry on top. You may think that your life sucks, or the whole world is against you until by the Will of God someone restores your faith in humanity. That one stranger who just brightens your day, and keeps you going. Just one smile, it takes one smile to turn a complete strangers day around. That person might not know your life story, or where you have been, or what you’ve been through. Just the power of a simple act of kindness can turn a horrible day around.…

Smiles make the world go round, peace makes everything better, both little known facts that are shown but rarely spoken. Well I’m a speaker and a smiler and a peace maker. Smile its not so bad is a quote out of my mouth hourly at work. Peace signs are my life they make me happy which cause a smile. I think that “peace begins with a smile” is a very true fact as being a smiley person and a peace maker, smiles help every situation to make it easier to fix. If only war could be peaced with a smile. This quote only really goes for little situations but at our age in time it works. The world would be a lot happier if they just smiled obviously since smiles are a sign of laughter and happiness. Peace love and happiness another great phrase that would go with this quote as its all about being happy in love with peace in the world. Mother Teresa was definitely the ultimate peace maker and her theory on it beginning with a smile must be true. Five letter words seem so oblique and obsolete but they can have great meaning behind them peace has a whole lot of meaning its tranquilly and calming and makes you think of sleeping babies and such things, smile well everyone has smiled at some point for some they smile a lot smiles make you think of laughter and happiness and joy. Its taking many years for me to get my smile but since I’ve gotten it I try to share it with others and make peace and spread that smile to everyone so they can experience the same feeling as I do when u spread your smile. “Peace…
