Witness Report

PART ONE – What method of evangelism did you use and how did you start the conversation?
The method I chose to use to witness to a young lady, who has been a friend of the family for a long time, was the relational method. While at my grandson’s first birthday party I engaged in a conversation with a longtime friend of my daughters. She has a baby that is close to my grandson’s age. The first thing I did was give her a big welcoming hug. We haven’t seen her in about seven or eight years. She had expressed to me the importance of being a good mother. She talked about how she never let her daughter stay with anyone except for her dad. We talked about the nursery that is available at the church we attend. Because she is a single mother, I helped with her daughter as far as holding her and guiding her away from danger such as stairs and open doors to the restroom. I did this in hopes of building a trust so that she would feel comfortable with going to church with us. We talked about how our church has purchased property and in the process of building a new church. I explained to her the many exciting activities the church has planned for the next couple of months. I believe the seed was planted many years ago when this young lady hung out at my house as a teenager with my daughter. She moved from the neighborhood to live with her dad and now we are reunited because we moved to a neighboring city.
PART TWO – What was the reaction (questions/comments/statements) of the unbeliever?
We talked about how she had decided not to have anymore children because of her contracting gestational diabetes, and having such a difficult high risk pregnancy. I assured her that each pregnany would be different. I also told her not to let herself be robbed of God’s blessing for her. My daughter’s friend seemed very interested in going to church with us. She had attended church with us in the past better never made a decision. Her focus

In his book Share Jesus Without Fear, William Fay lays out an easy and attainable way for one to reach people for Christ. A former mobster, and prostitution house owner, Fay says that if “God can take somebody like me and change him, he can take anybody in your life and change him as well.”1 In an easy to understand, comprehensive way, Fay shows how to overcome your fears and witness to those who are lost. By breaking down the six most common excuses one uses not to evangelize, he shows how to overcome the roadblocks that we place on ourselves. For instance, one of the fears he addresses is the fear of rejection. Fay points out that one must realize that this is not a contest. He says, “success is sharing your faith and living your life for Jesus Christ. It has nothing to do with bringing anyone to the Lord.”2 He goes on to say that it takes someone 7.6 times of hearing the Gospel before they give their lives to Christ. Just because you may have been the 3rd, does not mean that it didn’t make a difference. Throughout the book Fay lays out questions to ask, verses to go to, and objections that you will encounter, to lay out a way for you to share your faith with others without excuse.…

Spiritually dead is the first of the five stages. This stage is basically a sinner who has not accepted Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. This person is still living a life of sin, and does not want to give up this life. Spiritually dead individuals do not have the love and forgiveness of Christ living within them.…

Once building a relationship I would try to find out what happened to the father. This may seem nosy, but it could effect how I minister to her. There is a great difference between a widow and a women with baby daddies. I would also want to know about her beliefs, do her and her kids have a church that they feel welcomed and supported by? If not, I would suggest churches with big children ministries so that her kids had somewhere to go and she could attend church. She may use this as a babysitting service, this is not ideal but it is at least getting her and her kids into the church. If she does this there is a chance that I could see her every Sunday and invite her to come to our church for her own good.…

Starting from the beginning, my parents both grew up in “religious” families, but were never believers. They were very legalistic, they believed that if you went to church on sunday and were kind to other people, you would be good with God. They continued to live like this until I was about three, when they gradually just quit going to church. Then the summer I turned four, a family, the Sistars, moved into the house next to ours. They had a daughter, Breanna, who was my age. We hit it off right away, from that day on we were inseparable, we did everything together. Like I said, at that time my family had stopped attending church on Sundays, our new neighbors on the other hand were strong believers. I became curious as to why Breanna couldn’t play on Sunday mornings and Monday evenings, she always said she had Sunday school, and Awana...I had no idea what either of those meant. Toward the end of that summer, Breanna, and her mom Melissa, invited my little sister and me to go to Vacation Bible School at their church, Summit Community Church. My mom had to work, so my oldest sister Chelsey, took us to VBS every night that week. We all loved it. Chelsey began to think maybe we should try going to church again, there at Summit, she could see something was different about the people. She talked to my parents who agreed to try it out. We began going to church at Summit with the Sistars. Within a year, my mom, dad, and two older sisters accepted Christ and were baptized. The Sistars and my family became very…

In " Education Is Not Luxury", Stephen Joel Trachtenberg discussed about that people should take school seriously and in his opinion, " Topics like these may be putting a squeeze on the time spent on literacy and numeracy." Years ago, most American worked in farming or in finishing agricultural crops. However, " Agrarian calendar continues to dominate one facet of American life--education.", even we are no longer agrarian. Schooling was a luxury and it is a long process of educating the young but "America will never take schools seriously as long as they operate on the ancient agrarian calendar" or "they are open from only nine to three o'clock or some equivalent." So people thought that "this schooling business is a part-time occupation." So the schools have to do the right thing to make them important to people by spending time on literacy and numeracy. So the schools should be able to teach both academic subjects and other things. This would at least show that schools are serious. It could also help teachers to find a job and getting paid. Students would learn what they should learn. " Universities are driven by their double missions of learning and service and the compelling. However young students do not take the class seriously and they do not desired to learn, even have the opportunities to learn. In " Expanding Offerings", " many students come to school without any training in foreign languages, or that only couple of languages. And " many school districts must deal with immigrant children." School calendar can help teachers to keep their teaching on track and teaching more. But there are some objections which against to achieve more cause they do not have money, most of learning do not take place at school and extending the school days and making the day longer.…

Five years ago, I never would of guessed that I would be standing in front of a group of eighth graders about to tell them my life journey with God. I volunteered with my youth group to help with the St. Joseph Confirmation retreat. My youth minister asked me to give a witness on my relationship with God and how it started. I had no clue where to start, but eventually decided it was my own Confirmation retreat that inspired me to strengthen my relationship with God. It was night two of the retreat and right before adoration. Although I was shaking the entire time, I finished my talk, without anything bad happening, and afterwards, I felt accomplished. I overcame my fear of talking in front of a group.…
