Wireless Vibration Measurement Lab Report
WIRELESS VIBRATION MEASUREMENT SYSTEM

Vibrations are caused due to mechanical oscillation of a structure about an equilibrium point. There will be vibrations involved everywhere where there is any rotating system, mechanical system is involved. The vibrations involved at in these places will of high frequency. There will some places where the vibrations of lo0w frequency will be present which will also disturb the normal operation of the system or faultiness in the values measured by the system. These low frequency vibrations are mostly involved in the machinery used in the fields of medicine. So, depending on the frequency of vibrations they may be desirable for some applications like mobile phones and they may be undesirable for most

But these systems measure the vibrations and send the measured data using wires. If we need to add this type of vibration measurement system to any system which was already installed in its place all the present wiring needs to be altered and if there are more sensors to be used to measure these vibrations then wiring will be involved with more complexity. So in this project we are developing a wireless vibration measurement system where we can send the parameters measured through wireless technology. Depending on the application and range of distance for which data needs to be transmitted we can use different types of wireless technologies like wifi, zigbee or Bluetooth technologies. If the application involves continuous monitoring of data through online we can also use Ethernet module to store the data in online and can be monitored from anywhere through internet. Using this wireless technology is of great advantage as it helps to monitor the parameters easily. For this project we need to design separate boards with accelerometers, wireless module and microcontroller mounted on them to transmit the measure parameters and a gateway board with microcontroller and wireless module to collect the data from individual boards and for further processing. We can use this system as an on board battery operated or through external power. It all depends on the applications for …show more content…
In the field of automotive safety testing these can be used to measure vibrations in different types of tests like dummy test, on-vehicle testing, sled testing and pedestrian safety testing. Use of vibration measurement in this testing filed of automotive is an very important application because each and every single vibration needs to measured and taken care. Health monitoring of every machinery and civil structures is very much important as failures in these systems may involve huge loss. So these vibration measurement systems can be used in monitoring big structures where there is more chance of vibrations in different parts. The other important filed of vibration measurement is the motorsport where there are more number of vibrations which needs to be measured for accurate monitoring of the vehicle condition during the race and before

Wireless communication has become an important feature for commercial products and a popular research topic within the last ten years. There are now more mobile phone subscriptions than wired-line subscriptions. Lately, one area of commercial interest has been low-cost, low-power, and short-distance wireless communication used for \personal wireless networks." Technology advancements are providing smaller and more cost effective devices for integrating computational processing, wireless communication, and a host of other functionalities. These embedded communications devices will be integrated into applications ranging from homeland security to industry automation and monitoring. They will also enable custom tailored engineering solutions, creating a revolutionary way of disseminating and processing information. With new technologies and devices come new business activities, and the need for employees in these technological areas. Engineers who have knowledge of embedded systems and wireless communications will be in high demand. Unfortunately, there are few adorable environments available for development and classroom use, so students…

We are able to visualize, feel, smell, and hear the world around us due to a system called the sensory system. All around the surface of our body we have detectors that are known as receptors. These receptors, in the form of cells, are specialized to capture specific forms of energy- whether heat, light, chemical, or mechanical (1). The environmental cues that are detected by our receptors on the surface of our body are then transformed into electrical signals, or nerve impulses, that can be sent to the brain for processing. This ensures communication between the environment and our internal system, specifically, our brain. For instance, if we touch a very hot surface, the receptors on that area of our body recognize that we are touching a…
