INTRODUCTION 1.1 Introduction
Portable electronic devices are very popular nowadays. As the usage of these portable electronic devices is increasing, the demands for longer battery life are also increasing. These batteries need to be recharged or replaced periodically. It is a hassle to charge or change the battery after a while, especially when there is no power outlet around. Therefore, our team is inspired to design a wireless battery charger. This wireless battery charger is expected to eliminate all the hassles with today’s battery technology.
Wireless power is the transmission of electrical energy from a power source to an electrical load without a conductive physical connection. Wireless transmission is useful in cases where interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous, or impossible. The problem of wireless battery charger differs from that of wireless telecommunications, such as radio. In the latter, the proportion of energy received becomes critical only if it is too low for the signal to be distinguished from the background noise. With wireless power, efficiency is the more significant parameter. A large part of the energy sent out by the generating plant must arrive at the receiver or receivers to make the system economical. The most common form of wireless battery charger is carried out using direct induction followed by resonant magnetic induction.
The project consists of two self resonating copper coils of same resonating frequency of about 2MHz. One copper wire is connected to the power source (transmitter), while the other copper wire is connected to the device (Receiver).The electric power from the power source causes the copper coil connected to it to start oscillating at a particular (KHz) frequency. Subsequently, the space around the copper coil gets filled with nonmagnetic radiations. This generated magnetic field further transfers the power to the other copper

    Abstract—ZigBee, a unique communication standard designed for low-rate wireless personal area networks, has extremely low complexity, cost, and power consumption for wireless connectivity of inexpensive, portable, and moving devices.     Wireless power transmission is the transmission of electrical energy from a power source to an electrical load without man-made conductors. Wireless transmission is useful in cases where interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous, or impossible. So a study was made on the investigation of wireless power transmission by near-field coupling from the view point of the antennas. Mainly the antennas are of two types - dipole and loop antennas – and were used as the transmitting antenna and the receiving antenna for electrical near-field coupling and for magnetic near-field coupling, respectively. The relationships among the power-transmission efficiency and the antennas ' geometries, the antennas ' electrical sizes, the impedance matching of the antennas, and the ohmic losses in the antennas and the impedance-matching circuits were clarified. This technology has been widely applied, from the wireless charging of electronic devices to huge projects, such as the solar-power satellite system. The most important challenge is to maintain higher power-transmission efficiency over longer transmission distances which was strictly defined as the ratio of the received power at the receiving antenna and the input power at the transmitting antenna. Several observations were obtained, demonstrating the influence on the power-transmission efficiency of the impedance matching and ohmic losses in the wireless power-transmission system associated with near-field coupling. A wireless power-transmission system was numerically analysed by using canonical methods, including a dipole system and a loop system, the relationships among the power-transmission efficiency and the antenna geometries, distance between antennas, sizes and ohmic losses in the antennas and matching circuits.
