American Author Zane Gray once stated “I hate birthdays.” Perhaps he said this because he has had a bad experience with birthdays. Maybe he simply doesn’t like celebrating something as frivolous as a birthday. Personally, I concur with Mr. Gray’s statement, I too, hate birthdays. Even though the vast majority of the population enjoy their birthday and most likely consider it their favorite holiday, birthdays do not appeal to me however because of, my past natal day experiences, the annoyance of the annual overhyped celebrations, and my fear of being disappointed again.…

“Pig the Fibber” is part of a series of “Pig the Pug” written and illustrated by Australian author, Aaron Blabey published in 2015. In this humourous picture book, the main character, Pig the pug, behaves badly and tells fibs. His loyal ‘long’ suffering friend, Trevor, a sausage dog is blamed for Pig’s lies and misconduct. This story has a moral and is a good lesson for young readers, as in the end all the bad behaviour catches up with Pig. The illustration on the front cover draws the reader in with a simple illustration of a defiant looking Pug with mischievous exaggerated bulging eyes and red crayon nonchalantly resting on his bottom lip. The text “Pig the Pug” in black print has been altered by Pig and his red crayon he has crossed out…

One of the first major ideas in The Tao of Pooh is the uncarved block. When talking about the uncarved block, Pooh is the best example, and character chosen to be described, and describe the uncarved block. The uncarved block is everything being in it’s simplest form, and within simplicity has its own power. pooh is used to describe the uncarved block because he is simple. Pooh doesn’t worry about much of anything, he doesn’t over think, and he simple minded. Rabbit is used as the opposite as the uncarved block because he is always running around and is very busy because that’s who he is. Expressing this is showing you miss many things in life being busy and trying to rush everything. With the topic of Rabbit, it shows how not to life live.…

The character I am diagnosing is Piglet from Winnie the Pooh. Piglet is a pig who lives in Hundred Acre Wood in his own little home inside the beech tree where all of his friends – the other characters in the series – reside as well. Although Piglet’s exact age is unknown, it ranges anywhere from 0-3 years. He does not have an occupation, and no information is given on his family.…

    Piggy Lord Of The Flies

Piggy is one of the main characters as well as one of the first characters we, the readers, meet. He is characterized by his glasses, asthma, and a level of decorum that direct decorum that any stereotypical Brit could envy. Within their community, he is seen as the voice of reason(see: direct). This makes his character particularly important as he is surrounded by other boys who would rather treat their crisis as a playground. However, this cynicism, on a deeper level, can be seen as a method of deflecting and a power play. On page 46, he looks upon the others with disdain as they rush up the mountain to start the fire. This separates him from the other boys, in case something goes wrong. And, of course, it does. Towards the end of chapter two, as the mountain is burning, Piggy scolds them for both not thinking, but also(and more importantly) not listening to him in the first place. These actions enable Piggy to pass the blame to everyone else and thus, allowing him to walk away with a free conscience even though their main hope for food just burnt and one of their own might be dead.…

One theme from The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is that fear can prevent people from doing what they want and mean to do. This theme is developed by two characters who want to help and protect each other but fear is keeping them from doing so. Bruno’s father is a Nazi officer and Shmuel is a Jew who is in a concentration camp. Their friendship is an example that no matter what kind of person someone is, to not let their differences get in the way of a friendship.…

The over-stuffed teddy teaches the principles of Taoism in ways that aren’t quite obvious. Rabbit tends to think too much while Pooh just follows his gut. Pooh’s method of approaching life usually works out for him but Rabbit isn’t so lucky. Taoists believe that people should follow their natural inclinations and not try too hard. Another example of Taoism in Winnie the Pooh is the symbolism of Piglet’s size. It could be viewed as a weakness or strength. He might have to overcome certain…

In John Boyne's novel “The Boy In The Striped Pajamas”, it is proved that evil tends to arise out of the tendency of ordinary people to follow orders, to accept what their told by authorities, and to conform. The characters effectively show how influencing a conception can be by the exaggerating changes of their behavior and speech. When Bruno had asked about the people on the other side of the fence, his father had explained in a way Bruno could not understand. “Those people...well, they're not people at all.” In the novel, Bruno's father, Ralph takes position as a caring father, a responsible husband, and a trustworthy son.
