Why I'M Proud of My Country

Americans have several reasons to be proud of their country. Everyone can be who they want to be. We are allowed to say what we want, and to believe what we think is right. Most importantly, we can choose who we want to run our country. In 2009, we Americans put our races behind us and elected our first black president. We are allowed to choose our leaders based on who they are as a person, not because of what family they were born into. After we signed the Declaration of Independence in 1766, a new nation was born where people could finally make their dreams come true. This opportunity brought in immigrants who wanted to live a better life. Many others still wish they could live in the U.S. The Declaration of Independence helped to create a nation that has become a leader in the development of new inventions for making living easier. If you took the United States out of the world, think of all the technology we would be behind on. All the medicines and cures we have discovered would not have been found, causing millions of lives to be lost. American soldiers are known for trying to keep peace worldwide. I am very thankful for every person that has served in the military or presently is serving. Without them, none of the things I mentioned above would have been possible. They have chosen to live a sometimes dangerous life to protect people they have never even met. This is their choice, these soldiers have not been forced to serve their country. Our military has enough pride in our country that they want to serve. Thanks to their sacrifice, I live in a free country. The role the United States plays in our world is an important one, and without us, the world would not have life as we know it. We have freedom, technology, and many different races of people, which makes us unique. For all of these reasons, the United States is special, which is why I am proud of my
