In his essay, On Laziness, Morley expresses the topic of laziness by persuading his audience about the attractiveness that indolence gives through appeal to human nature and rhetorical effect. He argues that laziness can be advantageous in some scenarios as the lazy man can focus on his own problems, not the problems of others. Morley presents his subject of laziness to the audience in an informative and amicable tone, using sophisticated diction to provide style. The idea that laziness can be beneficial in certain cases Morley presents strongly appeals to human nature and society through the style he provides in his essay.…
According to Paul Graham, in his article, “Good and Bad Procrastination,” he claims that it is impossible to avoid procrastination because there is always something you could be doing, “No matter what you work on, you’re not working on everything else” (86). Graham talks about three types of procrastination: (a) working on nothing, (b) working on something less important, and (c) working on something more important. He says that the last type is good procrastination. He goes on to describe type-c procrastination as being the “absent-minded professor” who, while thinking about some interesting question, forgets to look where he’s walking, or forgets to shave in the morning or even forgets to eat his breakfast. Graham states that “His mind is absent from the everyday world because it’s hard at work in another” (86). He also says that type-c procrastinators put off working on small stuff to work on big stuff. Graham describes small stuff as: shaving, doing laundry, cleaning the house, writing thank you notes, etc. Basically anything that could be classified as an errand. “Good procrastination is avoiding errands to do real work” (86). Graham also talks about why it pays to put off certain errands such as mowing the…
“Eating that frog” is one of the most important ideas that is mentioned in the book. People procrastinate every day and have a different reason why they can’t do that one thing today. Brian Tracy puts it into perspective and list ways to get over procrastination.…
Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day... There are only so many tomorrows.”. Mortality is something that is very easy to forget in our day to day lives. If you waste the time that you have you don’t ever get it back. Time is a limited resource and one day you will die, so use your time and opportunities wisely. Wasting time in front of a TV watching shows that won’t make any difference on your life in a week isn't productive. Too many people put things off in life. They claim they will get it done next week or tomorrow, yet never accomplish these tasks. Constantly making up an excuses to push off things until a later date is the least productive tactic. You can't wait for the perfect moment in life, because there is no such thing. This moment is the only moment that you can control, so reach for it it and don’t let it slip away, because nothing is guaranteed.…
The author of the passage, “Structured Procrastination,” states, “Most procrastinators put off necessary work to defeat boredom or to avoid doing difficult work.” In my opinion, if a person who is always toiling and completing duties may lose effectiveness when they get drowned in the responsibilities of everyday life.…
Although both characters, Jim and Arnold at one point where hopeless about difficulties such as loneliness, disabilities, and family problems, etc, they never gave up because a mentor was there to help them. If a mentor had not inspire them to gain hope they would have always been hopeless. For example, Arnold was hopeless about where he lived and about how poor he was. Jim on the other hand was hopeless about how lonely he was, he had no family, and no friends, the only thing he had where is boots. Although life can get someone down there will always be someone who will help them gain hope again. In the novel “The kid nobody could handle” and “The Absolutely…
Procrastination is a horrible habit to have because it clearly knocks down the chances of even a hero being successful. If a hero was to procrastinate, the people, who the hero is supposed to protect, would be in danger. Such as what if there was a villain robbing a bank and was holding innocent people hostage and the hero was to say “Well, I’ll just take…

For some people it is hard to fit in, and that’s what it’s like for Auggie Pullman, from Wonder by R.J. Palacio, and Quarta, from The Girl who was Born with only Two Arms and Two Legs by Stuart Baum. First of all, they both have physical deformations and that makes it hard for them to fit in. They would get made fun of because of the way they look, and that also makes it really hard for them to fit in.…

11:20 PM found me in front of a glowing computer screen yet again. The essay was assigned weeks ago, but I was cursed with the bad habit of procrastinating. I spent hours everyday browsing statuses on Facebook, watching videos on YouTube, and reading tweets on Twitter; procrastination had become a lifestyle. I had an essay due tonight at 11:59 PM and I had been staring blankly at the empty page, praying for any inspiration to come to me.…
