Zheng He is not only an important person is history but there is also how he revolutionized exploring. He was not given the credit he deserved as a leader during his time. He was in command of many important ships that also happened to be very large. He not only scared away pirates that were hassling merchants and other people in the sea but he also helped China create bonds with many other countries. Zheng He gave China the abilities to become one of the strongest countries in the world.
When Zheng He was a child he lived in a village that was later taken over by the Ming. Zheng He was made castrated and made a Eunuch. Zheng He also was given as a playmate for the young prince Zhu Di. Zhu Di would eventually become Emperor Yongle, the fourth Emperor of the Ming Dynasty. In the year 1405 Zheng He was sent to explore the seas. Yongle helped support the trip by when Zheng HE helped support the prince to the throne. “According to historical records, Zheng He’s fleet for each of his voyages comprised over 240 ships and more than 27,000 men” (Miracle at Sea 3). As they went around the sea, Zheng He’s fleet not only spread Chinese power to other countries but would also monopolize the seas. The large ship and crew not only held treasures used to offer leaders to help make an alliance but weapons to help if the crew were threatened. Eventually Zheng He got rid of all pirates that were on the sea around China and southern
