Why Is Edgar Allan Poe Still Popular Today
LINCOLN IL-Edgar Allan Poe, the father of the short and horror stories, is one the most famous authors studied among students. Poes workings inspire so many authors to write. Poe used so many techniques to create the writings, which some are thought to be based on his insane life. Those may just be some of the many reasons he is still famous today. One of the biggest reason Poe is still famous today is because of his short stories and poems. Some of his famous works are, “The Raven,” “Annabel Lee,” and his short story, “The Tell Tale Heart.” Poe used a various amount of methods to create a very strong mood in each of his stories. One example, in “The Tell Tale Heart,” was “.....louder! louder!! louder!--.” Poe also would use strange punctuation and strange words to get the reader engage. All in all the way Poe created his stories is one of the biggest reasons he is still famous to today. …show more content…
Poe lived a very rough life in foster care after his parents passed away. He then married his thirteen year old cousin who then passed away at the age of twenty which left Poe in a state of depression. Poe attended a military school, but he dropped out. He did not have a lot of money, so he turned to gambling; however, he lost even more money. Poe’s writings did not make much money which made him even more depressed. Each of his stories are thought to be reflected on his tragic life. In conclusion, Poe’s very tragic life is another reason why Poe is still famous
