Animal Cruelty or Not? Imagine being with family, then, out of nowhere it all disappears forever. All across the world, there is certain locations people could visit to see interesting animals from all parts of the world, which are called zoos. These zoos have all sorts of animals, pandas, zebras, ant eaters, and the Australian wombat. Going to the zoo I see everyone having a wonderful time looking at the animals, having ice cream or an ice drink on a hot summer day. I was at the African lion exhibit, something seemed wrong, the lions were doing absolutely nothing, just staying in one position for the three hours I’ve spent there. The lions and the rest of the animals at the zoo did not seem happy. All the animals seemed to be out of shape
A zoo is an establishment that maintains a collection of wild animals, typically in a park or gardens, for study, conservation, or display to the public. Zoos most of the time market their animals of being happy and safe in their zoo. Also most zoo call themselves a wildlife conservation, but they are not. A wildlife conservation is the practice of protecting wild plant and animal species and their habitats. Most zoo animals' environments are very disgusting and inadequate for the needs, this usually make them anti-social and very aggressive to their own species. Not all zoos are the same, there is some that are great for the animals and there are a terrible zoo to give money to. The San Antonio Zoo is rated one of the worst zoos in the United States of America. The San Antonio zoo has about over 9,000 animals and 750 different species. The entire zoo is around 60 acres which means, that most of those animals are crammed into a small space with little space to move around. With all that little space most of the animal start to go insane, when this happens to an animal in a zoo it is called zoochosis. Zoochosis is the term used to describe the stereotypical behavior of animals in captivity. So for an example when people see a lion pacing back and forth that is zoochosis, because the animal is going insane with the little space it has. The san Antonio
These are called wildlife conversations. These organizations do amazing things in the ecosystem as well, by replanting the trees burnt down or cut down. Release the endangered animals back into the wild to help repopulate their species. The Wildlife Alliance is a certain wildlife conversation that sticks out to me. They help battle against illegal wildlife trade, most of those animals captured and sold in this illegal trade usually end up in some kind of zoo or circus. The Wildlife Alliance is located in Cambodia, so which means they focus more on animals in their location. There are predators like tigers and leopards, this means these animals are always being tracked down and sold on the black market, but the Wildlife Alliance helps protect these animals and keep them in their environment safe. There was the incredible success from the Wildlife Alliance. From protecting endangered and abused wildlife, to help replant and reestablishing destroyed forests. The Wildlife Alliance is always providing sustainable livelihoods for the local animals in the Cambodian country.
