Why Is Abraham Lincoln Bad

If you were to go on the street and ask any american to give you three names of great U.S Presidents chances are you will hear Abraham Lincoln’s name every time. He is one of the greatest icons for change in America. You will always hear people call him Honest Abe but even presidents don't make the best choices and Abraham Lincoln isn't an exception. Abraham Lincoln is just one of many leaders who isn’t perfect.

The Civil War was a huge task for Abraham Lincoln. This was the war that took place during Lincoln’s term in office. Lincoln did everything he could to protect the Union from the Confederates. He didn’t think that blacks and whites could live equally and peacefully together in America. He was known to be in support of black colonization. At one point he was working with officials in foreign countries on a plan to relocate blacks to countries such as Liberia, South America, and Haiti. Lincoln hoped for support from black leaders and abolitionist on this stance but was greeted with great resistance as they believed America was just as much the their land as it was the whites. After this resistance Abraham Lincoln did not mention colonization again and took it out of the final draft of the Emancipation Proclamation. A nation that was struggling financially and fatally due to a war to fight for equality. Abraham Lincoln may have thought at one point that it wasn’t possible that blacks and whites could live peacefully in America, but when abolitionist and black leaders confronted him head on, he never spoke of it again. Why? Because Abraham Lincoln was humble, he listened, many of Lincoln’s mistakes and flaws could be viewed as too large to ignore but because Abraham Lincoln was the man he was, he fixed his mistakes. He stood by his decisions because he saw an end in sight. A better America.

Abraham Lincoln wasn’t perfect, but who is? Even our great leaders are flawed. Without flaws there would be no room to learn and grow from mistakes. Even though Abraham Lincoln made mistakes he was able to persevere and become one of the greatest presidents of all time with change. He made great strides for american history because he could listen to the people and change. He stood by his decisions of change even through resistance. With that change people of today consider Abraham Lincoln one of the greatest presidents of all
