Why I Hate Hallway Blockers
I hate hallway blockers, don't you? Those large groups who walk the school halls side by side, so no one can't get by without flattening themselves against a locker. These people just get on my nerves.

The first example, early morning I get to school, grade eights are always crowding the entrance and there's no path to get to my locker. Every time I pass by I have to like, say excuse me and they end up not hearing me. I end up squishing, bumping and (add another) through the people just to get to my locker. Secondly, like you're in a rush trying to get to your class or somewhere in the school and people tend to block the hallways without intention. They act like they don't even notice you. Lastly, people always have conversations in the middle

I did not notice anyone acknowledge a person in another group; there was very little, if any, intergroup interaction taking place on the pedestrian mall, despite the groups’ close geographical proximity. This was most prominent in the case of a panhandler, who seated herself at a bench directly across from me. She asked every group passing by if they could help her by giving any spare change. Although she was only seated there for a brief amount of time before moving on to a different location, every group that she attempted to talk to ignored her. Most diverted their attention somewhere else to avoid eye contact, and some even changed their walking path to avoid any interaction with her. Although a dramatic case, the lack of interactions between the panhandler and pedestrians symbolized the larger lack of interactions between any two differing groups on the pedestrian…

Imagine people laughing at you, pointing at you, saying mean things to you, just because you are different. Things like this happen too much in this day and time. More of my pet peeves when I tell someone I refuse to talk about the subject and no matter what they won't stop attacking me with it later on. Another on is when people won't stop staring at me even though when I try too ask them what they want. Sometimes when people I hardly ever talk about myself and they act like they know me so well. When people are constantly talking about how cute my boyfriend, or they try to act like they know my relationship better…

Social cliques are made up of a group of people all becoming friends. In her essay, “Queen Bee and Her Court,” Rosalind Wiseman states “cliques are sophisticated, complex, and multilayered, and every girl has a role within them.” In high school, everyone struggles to be themselves and find their place; therefore; some comply with being in a social clique and follow the path of others. Moreover, every high schooler has dealt with peer pressure within their cliques. Peer pressure is the influence from members of ones peer group. Although many people believe peer pressure is always negative, that is not the case. There are two types of peer pressure: positive peer pressure and negative peer pressure. Correspondingly, bullying can be an extremely harmful result of negative peer pressure. In a high school setting, all of these aspects can be seen.…

    Violating Social Norms

Personal space. All people value this as social boundary and create appropriate norms. As we were assigned this task of violating a social norm in public, I began to consider all the strange personal space norms our society and campus holds. For example, while riding the bus if there a few people on it, you are typically going to sit two seats or more away from one another. However, when the bus is packed to the brim, which is the only time you are permitted to sit right beside a person or stand right up next to them. I found this fascinating; how in our campus society, people try to stay as far away from each other as possible. Moreover, the reason behind why I decided to violate this norm on the way home from class.…

    Biggest Pet Peeves

My biggest pet peeves are someone chewing with their mouth open, and people who don't use their manners. It makes my skin crawl to here the saliva and food get chewed up. Watching someone who chews food with their mouth open is the most unattractive thing to me. It actually makes my stomach weak thinking of someone doing this. I notice it every time and instantaneously my attitude changes. Nobody enjoys watching or hearing food as someone chews it up. I am disgusted and I just want to leave where ever I am. The sound and sight of it makes me sick. One of my next big pet peeves is someone who does not use their manners. I feel no matter what type of parent you had good or bad. Your parent does expect you to say please, thank you, yes ma'am, no ma'am, no sir, and yes sir. I believe these are just the basics of having good manners. Straying off from the words people can say, the actions people can do as far as hold a door for the person behind you, pulling out someone’s chair at dinner, or even helping a little old lady in a store to find something.…

For e.g. in my year group of friends: one is always really late to school and the other is in the lowest set for nearly all of her subjects. And all you have a problem with is “constant tardiness” but you need to know that if a child that doesn’t get to school on time is not your problem. Therefore you should not have the right to be frustrated with their, “constant tardiness as what they do doesn’t concern you or your children. One of my friends who are always late, she has parents who “can’t be bothered”. Her mother was killed in a train accident and her father works at four jobs to be able to afford to clothe and feed her. Therefore in regards to her being late sometimes their car broke down and he couldn’t get into school- but he always stayed late after school to catch up. What a terrible role…
