Why I Chose Creative Writing
I want to study skills that I can use anywhere in any profession I choose. I don't want to be confined to learn skills that I can't use for the hobbies that I enjoy. The opportunity to develop an interest in reading while not in school, to have the confidence to be able to approach new life skills and challenges with critical thinking. To find the hidden meaning in everything life should offer.

My favorite part must be creative writing because you get to focus on different writing styles and create your own work. Creative writing allows me to

I'm a real quiet person. It takes a lot to get me out of my comfort zone. Writing really helped me to be able to communicate without having to open my mouth. My words could influence people and make them see things in a different light. All throughout elementary school, instead of playing act recess, I would sit and write stories or read books from the library. In middle school, I could read three books a week. I think therefore I could excel and grow in English. My junior and senior year, I had the pleasure of taking the International Baccalaureate English program and it opened my eyes to what I should expect from the college level. Projects overlap and the grading scale is so different from what I was used to. I accepted the challenge and grew to love the language.

Having a part time job after school allowed me to gain many valuable skills I could apply to life beyond the sales floor. My organization and responsibility skills improved when it comes to working on projects spread over a certain span of

As Fin walked along the street the leaves of the oak trees shone like patches of blue velvet, but when he stopped still nothing shimmered. The waves refused to move. The glow of the city still seeped into the morning sky, forever. He felt he must be dreaming, and yet he was sure he wasn't dreaming because everything felt so real. Surely his brain was not powerful enough to create such a masterful illusion. Or was it? He felt his head imploding just trying to figure it…

“MLA! MLA!” These were the words my 8th grade English teacher Mr. Robs would yell at me. Being an 8th grader, I was not entirely used to a more advanced writing style. It was similar to what I had been used to writing with only a few more advancements such as 1” margins as well as a header in the corner. However, I would find out his style of MLA was not all that correct either, and when I moved to The Meadows, I had to re-learn MLA. Writing has not always been my favorite but when I get started, I get on a roll and cannot stop until I finish. English as a class itself is not that interesting in my own opinion but it ends up being the teachers that make it tolerable. However, when we do more in class elements such as projects and papers, that also makes it more fun because we are being proactive and not sitting around listening to a lecture. Of course, there are days when I do not want to do anything, and the best part is when I walk into class and we get to watch a movie or write a basic in class essay.…

Fighting temptation describes a battle that is as much spiritual as it is emotional or physical. To be tempted is not a sin. Everyone is tempted and at different levels. Even Jesus was tempted! Temptation happens when the opportunity is presented to do what we know is wrong, whether against God, ourselves, or others. Being tempted is not wrong - it's the decision to do wrong and the corresponding action that follows.…

A family as dysfunctional as ours, you must understand why being so different is so hard. Having a twin brother who is the perception of a golden child, and a sister, who is probably going to be the next Miss America, really makes you stand out as the ‘other’ sibling. I obviously lack the physical genetics which my brother and sister gained to my disadvantage. Being in my family is hard; not knowing which snide remark would come next towards my supposed unworthiness to sit at golden table for dinner. My father sitting at the head wearing his golden earpiece constantly on call, my brother opposite me with his short sleeved armour flexing silently so that I may always know that his physical dominance is ever present. My sister, constantly texting and hearing all the bells and whistles radiating from her cell. My Mum the only one I feel actually cares if I’m there or not, always asking me about my day. I know she doesn’t understand or even care for my love of physics and how my assessments went because she is too worried about the other two golden children. If my brother will pass high school or have to do another year, and if my sister’s new love is suitable. My dad, full of pride when our golden table is ringing with tales of winning fights, new boyfriends or godlike traits that all, except me, present. Even though I’m with my family I feel isolated, like I’m trapped in a cell of gold, golden walls, gold bars, gold roof and gold floor. No matter where I look there’s gold and knowing I can’t escape this gold cell is worse. So inside, I see my world as diamond, where I’m the hero, I’m god, and I’m judge, jury and executioner. I rule in my own way and in my domain of the class room my brother is trapped in that gold cell. The world of my family I’m an exile, don’t play sport, don’t look handsome… at all!! I wear glasses and have acne because I’m constantly stressed out. I wear a size 16 shirt because I’m all bone no brawn. But in my own way I’m strong, when my…

The day arrived. The day I have been dreading for weeks. I knew that today I would have to deal with unwanted tears and emotions of sadness and emptiness running freely throughout my body. Today was the day that everything changed and the whole world around me would collapse. This was the day that I would have to travel 6209.2km across the world. I felt expelled and exiled, sitting in a room filled only with a bed. White walls which painted no imagination, no hope just emptiness; yet they still assured me I was meant to be here. Every day was the same as the last, every memory I captured had slowly escaped. I was considered dangerous, vile and out of control; these words constantly surrounded me, swirling around in the echoes of the halls. 15 years I have been here, and still not once has my voice box being strained. Everyday new comers are filling the halls with recent experiences, these are the only colour these halls ever hold, the only colour we are ever able to grasp and use to paint our own ideas of community; they enable us oldies to once again imagine. Soon enough the halls go back to plain white and emotionless passages and so to do my imaginations, the images that i had held slowly fade over and over again until i am left with nothing. This only reminded me of what was familiar.…
