The monument is in a very good condition although some part of the stone are chipped off. The overall form and figure were kept in a very good condition; therefore, it shows the advantages of using marble. Since marble is a long lasting material, the work that created on marble stone would last longer than other materials. But at the same time marble stone is a very hard material to carve on, and it would take more time to create a piece of art than using any other materials. Also, the transportation would be hard, because it is very heavy, so damages would…

Parts of important American history were made inside this building such as debates and speeches. In this building Patrick Henry delivered his “Caesar-Brutus” speech against the Stamp Act. Arguments and debates went on about The Declaration of Rights and the Virginia Constitution. This is where many patriotic figures waged legislative war on the loyalists through debate. All of these examples show how deserving the Capitol is a great candidate for the commemorative…

However, the construction of sacred monuments has predated from the times of the start of civilization in Mesopotamia to even modern day. People have always created buildings to show their faith, and to honor their gods. In Ashokan India and ancient Greece, the creation of sacred spaces was very common. It is hard to pick which monument I like the most because they both represent something very important to our society but Ground Zero is my biggest attraction. Ground Zero is a memorial for the people killed in the tragic event of 9/11. Ground Zero is surrounded by other buildings but around the perimeter of the remains there’s little trees all around. This monument makes me feel happy and content because 9/11 wasn’t easy to overcome, especially people who lost loved ones that day. Now they have a place where they can remember them and takes them items like roses or the victim's favorite items . The monument has the names of the victims killed engraved in the pavement which hold a sentimental feeling for me because it’s very thoughtful so they…

I am going to use granite, concrete, and brick in the Grand Canyon monument to honor early explorers. I am choosing these items because I think these are some of the most high quality materials. I would like to build this monument very well, so that it will last for years and years. I also want to build this monument well because the early explorers worked very hard to do everything they could for the Grand Canyon, and I would like to honor them. Many people may have thought that everyone always knew about the Grand Canyon, or maybe they don’t care at all about the explorers of the Grand Canyon. Hopefully, this will influence people’s thoughts in a good way. For example, they could know people who need to be honored, so this monument will remind…

One must think with a great deal of precision and infallibility when memorializing history. The creator should have a sense of where it will be placed, the size, significance, and the pros/cons of it. Any memorial is a stamp of history, because it outlines an important person or event. It has a chance of effecting people while appealing to their emotions in positive or negative way. So when an agency is considering memorializing an event or person in a monument one should have a feel of how it would affect the mass population.…

Many people have made an impact to my life. I have decided to do my monument project on my grandpa. My grandpa passed away a couple years ago, I didn’t get to see him very often. He lived in a nursing home because he had problems with his brain and troubles talking, memory, and paying attention. If I were to build something in memory of my grandpa I would build a place where you could show dogs. There would be a little runway or path that my grandpa and the dog can walk on and they would act just like they would as if they were being judged. My grandpa loved to show dogs, he would show Golden Retrievers in the county fairs. He would also travel all over the states to enter his dogs into a contest. Both my mom and…

To most people having a giant monument dedicated to someone who believed that they were superior to other human beings sounds wrong. So, if that is the case why do we still have monuments dedicated to Confederate Soldiers? Right now, the biggest argument against the removal of these monuments is that they preserve our history but, it is important to remember that they foster a culture of discrimination and represent white supremacy. Controversy has surrounded this topic since the early 1900s and 1950s, but it has recently started to pick up traction due to a fight in Charlottesville, Virginia. Joe Heim, author of the article, "A stark contrast inside and outside a Charlottesville church during the torch march" describes a fight that broke…
