Why Do Colored Candles Burn Faster Than White Ones?
Question:
Do coloured candles burn faster than white ones ?

Purpose :
I'm doing this experiment to find out if the white candles burn faster than the colored candles. This will help everyone in life because if u want to put candles on your cake you might want to use the candles that burn slower, because by the time you blow your candles you don't want candle wax on your cake! The birthday cake doesn’t really take that long but if there was blackout you would want to buy the candle that burns slower since you want it to last longer. So the candle that burns slower would be a better choice.

Hypothesis:
In my opinion I think that the white candles will burn slower than the coloured. I think this because of all the chemicals that

The candles back then smelled bad when they were burned unlike nowadays. Now there are added fragrance to the candles.
Candles are the oldest source of light and throughout time they have gotten better and are not only for the use of light but for decorations, religious use, and for birthday cakes.
The white candles will burn slower because the candle dye (since it has chemicals) colours also affect the burning rate . Since the white is plain it will burn slower and the rest are dyed so they will burn faster. The burning rate also depends on how hard the wax is.

Results :
My results were that coloured candles do burn faster than white. My hypothesis was correct because the coloured candles burned faster than the white candle from all the research this is because of the dye the candle had and also it depends on the wax how hard it is if it's hard then it takes longer time for it to melt. White candles don't have dyes but coloured candles do that also affect a little on the burning rate. The yellow candle burned the fastest and the white was the slowest. Next time in this experiment I will try to use different coloured candles, and measure for more than 5 mins each candle.

Conclusion: Overall in my experiment I found out that in the future I should buy white candle. The yellow candle burned the fastest and white was the slowest. Remember when buying candles for the future (blackouts) buy white candles and I would also look for a good quality brand when buying candles because that will also affect the burning

The very first experiment had the hypothesis that the temperature of a burner flame can be controlled by adjusting the ratio of gas to air in the mixture to be burned. During this experiment, my partner and I gathered our materials of the paper matches, straight pins, copper wire, laboratory burners, rubber tubing, tongs, and evaporating dish. Making sure we had our safety goggles on and the material we needed, we connected the Tirrill burner into the gas and lit the burner with the match, having the air vents closed and the gas on. When the burner was lit, we noticed that the flame had a luminous, smoky yellow appearance. We then used a pair of tongs to hold the evaporating dish towards the top of the flame for 10 to 20 seconds. We observed…
