Why Congress Should Use Drones
Do you think drones would help our men and women in blue? There are many differentiating opinions going around about drones. The Congress should pass a law that allows the police to use surveillance drones, they shouldn't allow armed drones. The police could use an eye in the sky every once in awhile. Drones can first help the police with surveillance. Then drones can help in police chases, patrol the wilderness and find them, lower the rate of crimes, watch over parades or demonstrations, and can make the policies jobs safer. Drones can have many benefits on our society. Police need help to prevent crimes before they happen, that is highest on their lists.
First reason why Congress Should allow the police to use drones is police can use drones …show more content…
One way drones can lower crime is they are mobile cameras. Security cameras can have blind spots. Sometimes police don’t know where the suspect went after the security camera. This causes a lot of stress because the cops have to go track down the suspect. Tracking the suspect wastes more time the police could use on other causes. Drones will allow us to track and follow any suspects on foot or in a car. Drones can also help in the evidence department. Drones can take video of crimes. The can even help in police shooting cases. The police don’t need a body camera. The drones can respond to calls and watch over both the citizens and the cops. Increasing the amount of surveillance lowers the likelihood of crimes being committed. Drones are a great thing to use as deterrence. People wouldn’t rob a gas station if there was drones flying around outside. Those same people that was going to rob the gas station wouldn’t try to rob it again. Drones deter them because they know there are drones nearby. Police also wouldn’t have to have more hours on the job because less crime equals less police. Sen. Sean Nienow disagrees with the use of police drones. The Senator says “But we shouldn't use it just to go and check stuff out. We shouldn't be flying over people's back yards to see what they are doing." (Para 5). Douglas McDonald of Unmanned Applications Institute International disagree with the Senator. Douglas said to Mark Brunswick of the Star Tribune “But as soon as you lose your kid, get your car stolen or have marijuana growing out at your lake place that's not yours, you'd probably want one of those flying overhead."     Since the introduction of drones in war, the NY Times claims that the “CIA have not committed one civilian fatality, while allowing the troop death rate to decrease dramatically.” During the constant bettering of machinery throughout the world, the use of technology has come to a halt when it comes to an unmanned aerial vehicle. Portrayed by the US State Department as drones being useless, the use of drones has relentlessly grown to underestimated levels. A drone is classified as being “a UAV that is able to be controlled and sustain flight for numerous amounts of time, by a remote control”. The art of flying an attacking airplane remotely has made a strong peace appeal to not only the military but the citizens of the United States as well.
