In the generation that we live in today, many students feel the need to cheat in order to do good in their academics. Applying honor codes or systems in schools should continue to be placed because they are extremely useful. They should be kept because a student's future is at stake. They force discipline, prevent cheating, and create a sense of honesty, to not only themselves but to their surroundings.
Honor systems would force discipline to those who do not follow the rules. Students who don't dedicate themselves to honor systems, do not understand that “lying or cheating can expect to receive punishments ranging from suspension to expulsion.”(Source C) Disciplinary actions within honor systems help students in a positive way because it makes them think before making a wrong decision. Breaking an honor code could result in “the loss of a diploma.”(Source D) To avoid extreme consequences, students would follow the honor system which would not only make the school a good place, but also guide students to be successful based on their own abilities. Forcing discipline in honor systems will keep students from taking the easy way out, and will also better a student's education.
Therefore, to avoid feeling guilty about cheating students rather stay loyal to honor systems. “Recent research has shown that a spycam can greatly improve the honor code.”(Source A) If spycams are placed in classrooms, not only will students feel nervous, but they will also know that spycams will be a source of evidence if caught cheating.
