Why Animal Cruelty is bad
Why Animal Cruelty is bad.
What would you do if you saw someone hurting an animal? Most of you probably would not know what you should really do. Hi everyone my name is Rahul and Today, I will be talking to you about animal abuse and cruelty. I will discuss cats and dogs being abused, because they are the most abused domestic animals
Who would abuse a poor cat or dog? Unfortunately, people of all ages abuse animals. This includes senior citizens, adults, teenagers and even children. Sadly, most animal abusers and killers are teenagers.

Researchers say that violence against animals often represents aggression from neglect or abuse by some other family member. What that means is that if a child is abused, they are more likely to be an abuser of animals. Serious or repeated animal cruelty is seen more often in boys than girls. The characteristics of a child who abuses animals may include those who do poorly in school, have low self-esteem, few friends, and are bullies who may also be known for skipping school, damaging other peoples’ property and have other bad behaviours.

Adults who abuse animals may have grown up in an abusive home. Sometimes, during a divorce, one adult may take out their anger on their dog or cat, to get back at the other person. Others do it for no reason. Sadly, teenagers abuse animals for fun, even though there is nothing funny about what they have done. It is the exact opposite.
Abused cats have been beaten and even killed by their owners. One cat was burned to death by teenagers. During my research, I read of two teens that killed a total of seventeen cats. One cat was put in a microwave and was killed. Another man killed his cat by hitting it with a rake. If this doesn’t make you feel sick, I don’t what else would.

Dogs have been abused as well. Five puppies were thrown down into an outhouse hole. Luckily, someone walking by heard their whining and they were all rescued. One man killed his mother’s dog with a

There are many ways in which people tend to abuse of animals. An example is neglect, meaning that between a pet and the owner there is a “failure to provide an animal with the most basic of requirements of food, water, shelter and veterinary care” (What). Dogfighting is another example. Dogfights are events when two dogs are put inside a fighting pit and are forced to fight until the other one is dead or is too weak to fight back. The fights are brutal and the owners abandon the loosing dogs with only a couple more hours to live because of its deadly injuries or inhumanly kill the dogs themselves. The winning dog owner gets a money price. Most of the dogs that are considered to not be good enough to be entered in the pit and be victorious are used as bait to train other dogs or as breeding dogs where they are constantly exploited. All of these actions that people inflict on the animals can make them become very scared of humans, other dogs and their surroundings causing them to be very…

Why are some children inspired to behave this way? Most behaviors are either learned or mimicked, so who is influencing these children? Perhaps their parents have the same attitude, or even sadly perhaps the children are on the other end of the brutality, just acting out what has already been done to them? Animal abuse can be an indicator of the likelihood of future acts of violence. Abusers and children who witness abuse may become desensitized to violence and may lose the ability to empathize with victims.…

Animal abuse is a topic that most people are aware of in this day and age. But to clarify this is not going to be a speech appealing to the pity of Sarah McLachlan's song during animal cruelty commercials. Believe me this topic is truly sad, but its gets worse when you look into the current problems. I will elaborate on what is currently being done. The SPCA is a very large benefactor in stopping animal abuse as many of you probably know by their numerous commercials asking for donations and public awareness but they cannot take this entire burden on their shoulders alone. The type of animal abuse I would like talk about is specific to farm animals. This is a particular topic that many people do not consider. The example i am going to use first is the life of a cow and then elaborate on chickens. A female cow on a dairy farm is repetitively impregnated, again, and again for the production of milk. Hundreds of cows residing on thousands of dairy farms across america are artificially inseminated to constantly produce milk for our consumption. After a time of nine months the cow gives birth to a calf, within hours or a day the calf is taken from the mom and transported to a veal…

“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing”-Albert Einstein. Abuse towards animals occurs when humans cause harm to animals intentionally or unintentionally. Animal Cruelty during the Victorian Era is similar to the present day because people beat animals as punishment. However in the present day more people are hoarding animals as a result of being emotionally troubled rather than having a criminal motive, and people have started to stand up against abusive behavior towards animals.…

Animal abuse is when someone inflicts pain or harm upon an animal such as not giving them their basic needs (food and water) to beating them. In between 5 and 7 million animal companions enter an animal shelter nationwide, every year (www.aspca.org), and within 50 miles of Hayward, CA, there are 170 animal cruelty cases reported (www.pet-abuse.com). Imagine what these innocent beings that cannot speak out to let the human know they are in pain feel. Animals need us to speak out and help reduce their suffering instead of making their lives worse. Animal safety needs to be improved by creating more laws to protect animals from harm. Animal cruelty is shaped by two forms of abuse, different types of animal abuse, opinions on how animal cruelty happens, organizations that help fight for animal rights, and ways to report it.…

a poor helpless dog tied to a tree, barking its life out for some food and water. their owner comes out and starts beating it with a very dark, wet stick. The animal is screeching, yelping for help, but no one can hear. No more noise will be made, except for the silent sound of death. There is a real problem to address in Mid-Missouri. Animal abuse is a real thing, and it hurts over 40,000 animals across the nation.. There are very harmful adults and children out there who think it does not affect anyone, but it affects the animal that is being beaten to death until it does not cause any more…

A house pet, such as a dog or cat, is one of the only living creatures capable of loving its owner, more than it loves itself. As their owners and companions, it is the human’s job to protect and care for them. Yet, everyday millions of these innocent animals are abused and mistreated, and everyday millions of people are getting away with this cruelty because of the lenient laws against it. In 2013, there were a total of 1,880 animal cruelty cases were reported in the state of Texas. Of those animals 1,212 were dogs, 337 were cats, and 470 were other animals including livestock animals (Animal Cruelty Facts and Statistics). If a person can go to prison for child abuse, then why shouldn’t he get the same penalty for animal cruelty.…

The psychology of many people who have committed animal abuse can be linked to people who have experienced domestic violence in the past. Abusing animals can be an emotional response such as fear, anger, and sadness. Flynn P. Clifton conducted a survey of college students and it “tested whether committing animal abuse during childhood was related to approval of interpersonal violence against children and women in families. (Clifton)”. The correlation between domestic violence and animal abuse in the survey was very apparent. People who abuse animals are also more likely to commit assault towards…

Everyone has seen the sad animal commercials with the abused and neglected dogs at least once in their life. Some watch it in anger or sadness, and some simply turn the channel because of how unsettling it may be. Everyone has their own opinions on animal abuse and neglect. Some don’t realize the impact it can have on them until they personally see the sadness in the puppy’s eyes. According to the Humane Society of the United States, animal cruelty can be either deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. Whether the animal is a pet, farm animal, or wildlife, the victim can suffer terribly. Deliberate cruelty may involve, shooting, or stabbing animals. Yes, this does happen. Neglect however, is simply…

I strongly believe that there are several types of animal cruelty that many people disregard. When you think of animal abuse you probably just think violence being inflicted on an animal, or leaving it out in the cold, but those are just some forms of animal abuse. People are making animal’s fight each other until one of them has died while suffering an unbearably painful death, just for their entertainment. Animals are being slaughtered in the most painful ways so that people can enjoy a nice delicious meal. Animals don’t exist to be eaten; they exist for having a life just as us human beings. Each year, thousands of young and healthy Greyhounds are killed because they lack racing potential or have been injured while racing and are no longer competitive. This means that they are being killed, simply for lacking the fitness level. Statistics show, that 12,569 animals are being cruelly treated every day in Australia alone. 65% of those numbers are dogs. Imagine your dog, who is…

There are extreme cases of animal abuse every day. In England, on three different occasions, cats were cooked in microwave ovens. One of these incidents was in 2010, when a cat named Roxy was put in a microwave oven for 10 seconds, and then shoved into a laundry dryer, yanked out of it, and dunked into a bowl of water. The whole incident was filmed by two teenage boys and a middle aged man, who were sentenced for animal cruelty. Luckily, the cat survived. In 2008, a man had a falling out with a dog owner, and decided to torture the dog as an act of revenge. He and his friend took the dog to a park and recorded themselves slashing him with a knife and garden shears, amputating two of his legs, severing his nose, and then decapitating him. Reports say they laughed the whole time (Goad, Jim). Lastly, there have been videos circulating the internet showing dogs walking on their hind legs. While many people find this cute, no one knows the true story behind it. These dogs are tortured and beat up to be trained not stand on their hind legs. The videos showing them being beat up by their owners are still on the internet, but many don’t want to hear that side of the story. These incidents happen very often, but not much is done about it; people do not get more than a few months of jail time for torturing animals. Most of the time, they just get psychiatric…
