Who Is To Blame For Mack's Downfall
Mack is to blame for Scotty’s accident. Although it was Maureen’s suggestion and certainly brought the idea to mind, Mack, in the end, gave into peer pressure. Eventually, he followed through with it. Mack is unable to settle from the guilt. Being conscious and knowing what he’s done to someone else is far too much for him. He ruined someone else’s dreams with his egocentric behavior, and came to the realization that getting what you hoped for isn’t so great when it is not rewarded unequivocally. After all, Mack only became the captain because Scotty was injured. Luckily, he only suffered injuries. Stairs are dangerous. Had he fallen wrong, it could have resulted in death.
