Who Is To Blame For Macbeth's Actions
The Tragedy of Macbeth The murders that Macbeth had committed in William Shakespeare’s play, The Tragedy of Macbeth were over power and manipulation. Although a lot could’ve been done to prevent Macbeth from murdering King Duncan, the guards and Banquo the play wouldn’t have ended the way it should’ve. Even though there’s many people to be blame for the influence of Macbeth’s behavior I strongly believe that Lady Macbeth plays a particularly integral role. Lady Macbeth is responsible for Macbeth’s actions because she was pressuring him to do something that he didn’t want to do.     They persauded Macbeth to kill people only because they wanted to be benefited. they were selfish and not worrying that they would soon turn Macbeth into a crazed lunatic The witches delighted in chaos and toil. They did not tell Macbeth what to do but they simply showed him what can happen through their prophecies and the apparitions they showed to Macbeth. Macbeth could've been a perfect target for them to bring about this chaos. The extent of their influenced is demonstrated through their predictions, they are temptations and a form of flattery which Macbeth eventually gave into. On one hand, Lady Macbeth has the far greater influence because she is Macbeth's wife and they share a passionate relationship together. Just like the witches she flatters him, but this time it is a direct flattery and a direct temptation towards him. As far as Macbeth being changed into a diffrent person, he himself is responsible for his own actions. The final decision lies within him and this was demonstrated when he carried out the murder of King Duncan. Lady Macbeth acts as the catalyst for Macbeth. Macbeth realised that he would have to commit regicide (stars, hide your fires; let light not see my deep and black desires), but he was unwilling to do so. Lady Macbeth changes his mind by attacking his manhood, despite the brave acts he has commited as a soldier. She also flatters him shamelessly.     Murder is a recurring theme in the tragedy of Macbeth. Although there are countless murders, the play DOES distinguish between honorable and dishonorable violence. For example, Macbeth begins to form an internal conflict prior to murdering Duncan. The conflict can be seen throughout lines 34-64 of Scene 2 in Act two, specifically with the lines, “I see thee yet, in form as palpable as this which now I draw.” This murder is definitely seen as a dishonorable death, as Macbeth murders Duncan due to the fact that he wishes the prophecy to come true. Another example of dishonorable death would be in scene three of act three, when murderers are hired to kill Banquo. This death is seen as dishonorable as it was only committed to fulfill the prophecy. Not only was it dishonorable for that specific reason; it was seen as dishonorable as Banquo’s ghost came back to haunt Macbeth while having dinner with the lords. Macbeth constantly sees the ghost throughout dinner, specifically when the ghost sits in Macbeth’s chair. This shows how dishonorable it was to murder Banquo, as it was only to fulfill the prophecy. However, the play does distinguish between dishonorable and honorable deaths. Macbeth’s death in the end was honorable, as he deserved to die. Macbeth was responsible for the madness throughout the entire story, killing countless men as he was afraid of the revelations that had came true from the prophecy. Macduff’s killing of Macbeth was done due to the fact that Macduff was avenging his family; however, Macbeth’s killings were done out of terror. Without a doubt, the tragedy of Macbeth distinguishes between honorable and dishonorable deaths. This play also can be seen as a plea for peace and human harmony, by supporting the fact that people will murder not only out of greed, but out of honor as well.…
