Slavery started in 1619. The first antislavery society was founded in 1775 by a group named the Quakers. They were the first group to want to end slavery, this happening lead on to the fact of more people not wanting to have anything to do with slavery. Encouragement from the Quakers began to spread and help people acknowledge that slavery was wrong that we are all equal.

Douglass was born February 1818, Talbot County, Maryland, MD. For 16 years he edited an influential black newspaper and achieved international fame as an inspiring and persuasive speaker and writer. Frederick Douglass was an inspirational speaker to the world letting people know that we are all equal and that every race lives matter. Frederick explaining that we all have to work and do things for what we want, as he is saying in this quote “If there is no struggle, there is no progress.” Explaining that we all need to work hard to get what we want and going through a struggle pays off in the end. For an example the Abolitionists, they go through all of the arguing all of the disagreements and the disrespect for wanting slavery end that’s the struggle.
