Canada is a cultural mosaic, meaning that it’s a collection of several subcultures. Whether they are regional, aboriginal or ethnic. Because the two official languages are English and French and because they are used for day-to-day life in most parts of the country, Canada is like a melting pot with strong connections with the rest of the English- and French-speaking world, although this differs from region to region. For instance, some Government policies tend to differ from those in the US. E.g. publicly funded health care, higher taxation to distribute wealth and so on.…

Canadians should feel fortunate to call themselves Canadians, as they have fundamental freedoms, natural beauty, and a providing government. Bob Rae could not have said it better “We have it all. We have great diversity of people, we have a wonderful land, and we have great possibilities. So all those things combined there's nowhere else I'd rather be.” Born in a 3rd world country with poor social and health infrastructure, as an immigrant it is easy to appreciate the facilities which this great land has.…

Another area that Canada strives to make better each and every day is education. Canada is a country with high educational achievement. They have educated people with the highest literacy rate in the world. Canada offers free primary and secondary education and subsidized post-secondary studies and makes it mandatory for students to attend school until they are 16-17 years old. Canada is a leader and an example for other countries. To the best of their abilities they try to help people in any way possible. Since it is mandatory to go to…

Yes, I agree with the United Nations about their decision to rank Canada as one of the best countries to live in. Canada is a wonderful place to live thanks to how diverse it is. This country is filled with people from different cultures and backgrounds, which is why it is sometimes called a ‘ cultural mosaic’. Being a cultural mosaic means that we allow every culture to keep their identity instead of telling them to conform to a certain way of life. The people…

Canada is the greatest country in the world to live in because everyone in Canada has the right to free primary and secondary education, making Canada the highest level of school educated children. To make a living anywhere in the world you need to make money, to make money you need to attain a job, and the best job opportunity's come to those who are highly educated. Canada is great because of the freedom we receive. Canada has a Constitution Act that was created in the year 1982 that states the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, meaning all Canadian's have equal rights and freedoms. Health Care makes Canada distinct from many other countries, every citizen has free health care that is delivered through a publicly funded care system. A health card is given to all Canadian’s by the Provincial Ministry of Health and everyone receives the same level of care. Canadians are proud of the land because it's strong, bold and beautiful; Canada accepts multiculturalism for what it is no matter on colour, sexual preference or religion. The people are kind, generous and helpful, giving to those in need through charity, is just one way of giving back Canadian’s do on a regular basis. I believe being Canadian is great because we receive free health care, free primary and secondary education, we're peacekeepers, there's always opportunity, and the freedoms and rights.…

Canada’s topography is spectacular, you can go from oceans to lakes and from deserts to rainforests all in a day's drive, or drive across this vast nation and experience waves surging onto shore, fields of wheat dancing in the wind, cobble stone roads where Canada's first settlers had a dream for a new nation, and cliffs looking out onto what seems an endless sea. The beauty of my country makes me proud. Canada is the least racist country in the world, in my opinion. Ethnic backgrounds are mixed which makes Canada hard to define. Every culture has their own unique qualities and strengths; in Canada their qualities have merged to become one. This new nationality created from blended backgrounds is Canadian. In other countries a lot of people don’t accept ethnic minorities. In Canada, we treasure the various cultures that reside here. The more ethnic background we incorporate into our society the richer we will…

While Canadians are sometimes depicted as a beer drinking, party loving, and rugged in attitude, when in fact they are generally quite reserved and passive. In reality, Canadians have become known for their great humanitarian efforts. Canadians are continually recognized for the way in which they go in after the occurrence of devastation and help the civilian population, of that particular community or country, get back on their feet. An example of this was seen in the Kosovo crisis, when they brought refugees to Canada and provided for them while there was war in their homeland. They are also known for their peacekeeping ways. They are slow and cautious when entering battles and are reluctant to choose sides between nations in acts of inhumanity and crime. People from all around the world come to Canada, looking for refuge. They have come to see Canada as a peaceful country, where they will have a…

Canada’s multiculturalism, democratic system of government and healthcare system are my top three choices that make me proud to be Canadian. From all the countries in the west, Canada is the only country to rank in the top 20 most diverse and multicultural countries (Morin). Not to mention, Toronto which is a city located in Canada is the most ethnically diverse and multicultural city in the entire planet (Rouse). I am proud to have multiculturalism in Canada since it promotes diversity and demonstrates how people from all cultures can live together in peace and harmony. Multiculturalism is a marvelous way to meet new people and discover various traditions and cultures. Additionally, it brings new foods to savor, interesting cultural activities…

    Being Canadian

If a country can be defined by its citizens then the one thing that makes Canada the best country in the world is its people. According to John Buchan, a popular Governor General of Canada (1935-40), immigrant groups should retain their individuality and each make its contribution to the national character; while they cherish their own special loyalties and traditions, they cherish not less that new loyalty and tradition which springs from their union. Immigrants were more than welcome to keep their traditional identity and they shall contribute for the benefit of this country but they also have to respect their new Canadian identity. I am glad that people of Canada are not a society that blends together to form one basic cultural norm based on the dominant culture but instead we have given the right to retain our culture.…
