For the purposes of this paper I used the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Heath literature, or CINAHL. To find this article I used the key word searches “pediatric nursing”, “caring model”, and “Watson.” The purpose of the study within this article was to construct a model to improve healing and caring for nurses within an environment as well as to describe the process that allows for the creation of this environment (Emoto, Tsutsui, & Kawana, 2015). Throughout this study the authors were trying to bring a change to society by producing practical knowledge for situations (Emoto et al., 2015). First the most prominent part of the metaparadigm addressed was that of nursing. The entire article was based on trying to find a more efficient way to promote healing and caring for nurses. Without nurses there is no nursing, therefore this article brings to light one of the main concepts in the metaparadigm. Along with nursing this article also addresses person within the metaparadigm, this article looked at the way nurses provided care to children in six different units of care. Examining the ways, the nurses and other staff interacted with patients but also with each other in an attempt to promote higher quality of care for patients, along with providing better care for them as people, was a common area throughout this article. Environment was also addressed within this article because as stated before the main goal or achievement of this study was to improve care and healing within the environment’s these nurses worked in every day. Nursing is a profession that takes a lot out of a person and sometimes it can be really difficult to find the joy or the good in everything that nurses are responsible for doing, therefore this model could help to show nurses what they are doing matters. By this I mean if a nurse is working with a child that is going through an extremely difficult procedure or maybe the child is receiving an IV, this can be extremely traumatic for the child. If the nurse walks in with a negative attitude because the last IV they placed in a child’s arm resulted in a bruise and an extremely upset mother then why would they assume this experience would be different? Using this model could help the nurse stop and think through why this experience is going to be bad. They could talk to a coworker and ask if the same situation happened to them learn from the experience and use what was learned to change the way this new completely different IV placement can actually be a positive experience for the
