What Is The Cost Of Love In A Midsummer Night's Dream
Love can be very beautiful and magical but at the same time it can be blinding and dangerous. In the midsummer night’s dream William Shakespeare coveys the message that love comes with its cost, by telling us the tragic love story of the two couples Hermia and Lysander , Helena and Demetrius. As Lysander had said to Hermia when she had to decide what kind of life she wants to choose or to die “The course of true love never did love smooth”, (1.1.136).
In my opinion the person who’s responsible for all of the tragedies that the lover’s faced, is Egus. If Egeus had never tried to force Hermia to marry Demetrius instead of Lysander, and above all he took the matter to the court. If it weren’t for Oberon and Puck the couples wouldn’t have gone through the tragedies they went through. First of all Oberon failed to explain Demetrius’s appearance to Puck which caused Puck to be confused between Demetrius and Lysander. add quote. When Hermia woke up she couldn’t find Lysander anywhere she thought that Demetrius might had killed him, when she was yelling at Demetrius, Oberon and Puck saw them and Oberon said “add quote”.
