What Is The Color In The Masque Of The Red Death
People are different from one another. We all have different destinies, but one thing is the same everyone dies in the end. "The Masque of the Red Death" is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe. The story has two main characters it focuses on. One character is Prince Prospero and the second is the Red Death. The Red Death is a disease that kills people in thirty minutes. After half of the village is dead from the disease, Prince Prospero decides to host a masque at his castellated abbey “Castle”, and he invites a thousand of his friends to join him for the ball. Prince Prospero has a creative mind because in the castle there are seven different rooms with seven different colors that contain the party. The readers do not think the colors

The colors in the story are in order to specific events that happened through out his life. In the beginning, Poe never knew his father. This would represent the color blue because Poe grew up without a father. Next, Poe’s mother died when he was a young child. The green room is associated with money because when Poe was an adult he did not have enough money to attend University of Virginia. Poe started gambling and ended up in debt. The Violet room is associated with grief because Poe’s beloved wife Virginia died. Finally, the black room represent death because Poe died and the cause of his death is unknown. “ There was a sharp cry —and the dagger dropped gleaming upon the sable carpet, upon which, instantly afterwards, fell prostate in death the Prince Prospero”. In the end the Prince has died and the villagers do not know how he had died. It seems Poe was really Prince Prospero in the story because both fictional and non-fictional characters had unknown deaths. Edgar Allan Poe never makes a story simple. Everything that he writes no matter how meaningless has more than one answer. Poe writes about seven different colors and the colors tells the story of life and of sins.
