What Is The Aztec Empire?

When the spanish invaded Mexico,they found that one of the dominant empires of the world was the Aztec Empire. The Aztecs were divided into small family groups called Calpullis. Calpullis means “The big house”. Each of the family groups had a headman who met with other headmen at a council. While many great civilizations and empires had developed and collapses in the religion over the millennia, today we know more about the Aztecs than we do about the earlier societies thanks to the observations of the Spanish.
