What Happened To Santiago's Journey In The Alchemist

There comes a point in a person’s life where their personal calling becomes so strong it is nearly impossible to deny. This is what happened to Santiago in the book, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. Santiago traveled on a spiritual and self learning adventure that contained many challenging trials. Along the way, he encountered instances where he had to pay a very high price. An example of these instances would be when he had to give up the merchant girl, his sheep, and when he lost all his money on the pursuit for his dream. Even though these events were costly, it did not prevent him from achieving his goal because he had a strong willpower.
