What Does Langston Hughes Learn From Mother To Son
In the short poem “Mother to Son”, by Langston Hughes, the mother is revealed to have many unique traits about her that maker her a diligent person. The poem has many metaphors that show the mother is a hard-working, persistent, determined, and strong person who endures her troubles she faces in her lifetime. The mother is stated to be an insistent woman that went through many hard struggles and teaches her son to be assiduous to get through the struggles he might encounter just like how she did. In the beginning to the middle of the poem, the mother states that she faced many struggles and problems in her life. However, the mother is revealed to be hardworking to get through the obstacles she encountered when she was “climbing the staircase”.

    The theme of, "Mother to Son," by Langston Hughes, is to keep moving on even when the worst of times is trying to hold you back.
