What Are Your Personal Career Goals Of Becoming A Physician
One of my personal career goals is to increase quality of care to lower socioeconomic neighborhoods. Growing up in Germany access to health care was universal; however, when I moved to the United States I realized that a large population does not have access to quality healthcare . During my many talks with our residents I have learned about the disparities in their patients whereas one group of patients receives an abundance of services another group only receives the bare minimum of health care services. Providing care to the medically needy has been one of the determining factors of becoming a physician.     It is critical to understand the underserved communities challenges and barriers and other factors that contributed to their situation, family, social and culture. As a future APRN, I will have the advantage of knowing the inner workings of the family while treating patients and providing complete care because I can personally relate to the challenges that face many underserved communities. In addition, I have volunteer experiences working with several Emory University physicians at the Good Samaritan Health Center, Mercy Care and National AIDS Education and Services for Minorities (NAESM) all in Fulton County, Ga. That have furthered my passion for helping those less privileged like myself.
