On 04/05/2016, I spoke with Wendy Almanza by telephone. Ms. Almanza wanted to report theft by deception.

Ms. Almanza advised she and her young daugher met Esmeralda Solis-Soto, owner of Esmeralda`s Boutique in Land O Lakes and publisher of Best Quince Magazine while attending the "Best Quince Expo" in Orlando, Florida on 12/06/2015.

Ms. Almanza stated she was informed abour future modeling jobs and pageants that her daughter could participate in and compete against other girls. Esmeralda had Almanza come to an event she was hosting at her business in Land O Lakes on 03/06/2016. At this event, attended by approximately twenty girls, Esmeralda announced an upcoming fashion show that was going

Almanza agreed to enter her daughter and her niece and paid $600.00 to Esmeralda for the tickets to enter the fashion show as models. Once Almanza and the girls arrived in Chicago Esmeralda met them and informed Almanza of the possibility of the girls not being hired as models. Esmeralda also that she too, needed a ticket to attend the fashion show. Almanza was unable to pay an additional $300.00 on such short notice. She sent the girls to the fashion show with Esmeralda while she stayed in the hotel room.

Ms. Almanza said Esmeralda was not aware at first thatshe had communicated with the girls via text and telephone while they were at the fashion show with Esmeralda. When Esmeralda returned the girls to Almanza and was confronted with the events of the day, Esmeralda claimed the girls did participate, but did not win, and were not hired by any big company.

Ms. Almanza said she now realizes that the girls were never entered into the contest and Esmeralda stole her money by deception. Esmeralda used them as her helpers when needed and left them alone in a room for long periods of time when she did not need them. She said through her own investigation she has learned that there was no cost for girls to enter the fashion show in Chicago. Ms. Almanza advises she has not been able to contact Esmeralda by telephone.

I informed Ms. Almanza of the case number for this report. I forwarded the Support Documents to Records and Economic

Changed into someone who grew from her mistakes, learned from her experiences, and changed from influences around her. When Esperanza goes to a carnival with one of her friends, Sally, Esperanza encounters a very uncomfortable situation for her. “Sally, you lied. It wasn’t what you said at all. What he did. Where he touched me. I didn’t want it, Sally. The way they said it, the way it’s supposed to be, all the storybooks and movies, why did you lie to me” (Cisneros 72)? If this situation never had happened, Esperanza wouldn’t grow and learn from this. She grows more aware of who she is as a woman. She obviously does not like the situation she is put in so she will understand what happened to her, use that and put that towards her future. Next, Esperanza used all of her stories and realized who she is as a woman. Who she wants to be, what she wants her life to be. Not anybody telling her how to live it. “Not a flat. Not an apartment in back. Not a man’s house. Not a daddy’s. A house all my own. With my porch and my pillow, my pretty purple petunias. My books and my stories. My two shoes waiting beside the bed. Nobody to shake a stick at. Nobody’s garbage to pick up after” (Cisneros 78). Esperanza doesn’t want somebody telling her what to do everyday, or cleaning up after someone besides herself, or a man’s house. Her own…
