Mobile System Paper
“A mobile application, most commonly referred to as an app, is a type of application software designed to run on a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet computer. Mobile applications frequently serve to provide users with similar services to those accessed on PCs. Apps are generally small, individual software units with limited function. Mobile applications are a move away from the integrated software systems generally found on PCs. Instead, each app provides limited and isolated functionality such as a game, calculator or mobile Web browsing. Although applications may have avoided multitasking because of the limited hardware resources of the early mobile devices, their specificity is now part of their desirability because they allow consumers to hand-pick what their devices are able to do.” (Techopedia, N.D.)
I recently discovered this new app for IPhone users which is called ipay. This app is a mobile app that is a free e-Wallet application allowing customers to manage their electronic money and MasterCard / VISA cards anywhere, anytime and is always in the palm of their hands. With ipay Mobile on your phone you are in complete control of your ipay accounts, tags and cards, even when you are miles away from your computer. This app allows its users to pay bills, transfer money, check balance and view purchase history. It also is a great app for business because if you are a business owner this wonderful new app also allows you to manage your Outlets, mobile ipos terminals and resend electronic receipt to your customers.
This has been a huge change and shows just how far we have come along with technology. This changed the way that people pay their bills and send/receive money. This is great because now instead of its users carrying around all of their credit/debit cards with them which is still a high risk for theft they have the ability to load their

While there are some limitations to the scope of data that can be accessed and delivered to a mobile, equally there are a host of features, be it GPS or barcode scanning, which can open up new possibilities for how mobiles can deliver a fast, efficient and dynamic user experience. CPU performance tends to be more limited on mobile phones but it’s not about developing ‘desktop-lite’ versions of an application, it’s more about working with the innate advantages that the mobile device offers to create new ways of working and more innovative processes. Taking desktop applications to mobile devices demands a fresh approach; issues ranging from variations in screen size, multi-handset platforms, back-end connectivity and associated challenges such as performance, are signaling a new era of innovation in development.…

The application I choose is Facebook Mobile. Facebook Mobile is an application that allows a user to access Facebook directly from their cell phone. Facebook Mobile was designed to give Facebook users the ability to view and update their pages on-the-go such as, what they are doing, who they are with, and allows people to share photos of their activities. Facebook Mobile is convenient for the average person in ways to keep in touch with old school mates, friends, family, and new friends. Facebook Mobile is also beneficial in the business world for reasons of looking up a potential future employee and seeing how their life is lived and what type of person they are and if they fit the job qualities. Have you ever been in an awkward situation and did not know what to do? Easy! Just go on your phone to Facebook Mobile and see what your friends and family are up to, or like certain pages that will keep you entertained. There are a lot of pages that can teach things to you. There are all types of entertainment such as the news of what is going on in the world or your community, funny videos that lighten the mood, and various types of pictures. Facebook Mobile is a great way to reach out to people if they owe you money from court cases, loans etc. Millions of people use Facebook mobile. For the first time in the company's history, the number of mobile daily active users surpassed the number of users checking Facebook on the web. With the smartphone and tablet markets seeing their numbers increase dramatically during 2012, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to learn more people are using mobile devices to stay connected to Facebook. Considering in September only 126 million people used Facebook on mobile devices, and on average, 618 million people used the website daily in December, you can see why the network is so happy with…

Android has many contributors writing applications (known as “apps”) that help extend the functionality of hand-held devices. It delivers a complete set of software for these devices: an operating system, middleware and other key mobile applications (“apps”) and the operating system is the world’s best-selling smart phone platform (Virki, 2011). Google released much of the code for Android under the Apache License agreement, a free software and “open source” licensing platform, which instantly pushed the software to the fore-front of mobile software development.…

The purpose of the application is to make banking for their customers stress-free. With this application customers can deposit checks from their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Android, Kindle Fire, and Windows Phone. All they do is input the amount of the check, take a front and back picture of the check and click submit. Customers can also view their banking and credit card balances and transaction history. Customers can transfer money between Chase and non-Chase accounts, in different ways. They offer Transfer Money, Wire Transfer, and Chase QuickPay. I just used the QuickPay feature today. My little sister bought my tickets to Lollapalooza so I paid her back through QuickPay. In order for the money to get deposit to her account, we both have to enrolled in the Person-to-Person QuickPay. Once we both signed up, I type her e-mail or phone number and the amount to transfer and submit it. Once sent, she approves the transaction, and it is complete. I am also able to pay bills with the application. This feature is truly helpful; I set up reminders on my phone to remind me of when my payments are due. When my reminder goes off, at that moment I log in to my Chase application and make the payment on the spot. I do not have to wait to get home because if I do I would forget to make it and I am charge with the late fees. Another capability is being able to find the closest branch or ATM near me. All this is possible with a smartphone and a tablet.…

Competition is high when it comes to mobile applications and sites. If there is a scarcity of experienced staff to develop, this can become a threat to the business. Customers also, for the most part are very fickle, and there are a lot of factors that play into a person’s loyalty to a brand, let alone more factors when dealing with ease of use of a business’s site or application.…

    1. Micro-payments – Among the most revolutionary changes in the coming months—not years—is the use of micro-payment systems from a variety of financial firms, e.g., Paypal, Visa, WesternUnion, among others, including banks. This trend is facilitated by the W3C working group that approved these protocols and technical standards for the interworking. These systems will change not only how we carry money but how we value money and think about purchases. (Consider how a purchase of $4.99 feels in a mobile app store vs. at Dunkin' Donuts.) Payment systems that make it easier to buy online, coupled with mobile technologies will accelerate the usage of global e-commerce applications.…

Since the release of the 1st generation iPhone in late 2007, smartphones have taken over the cyber world as we know it. The number of TV homes who own smartphones has increased by 46% since 2009 (Nielsen); just two years after Apple introduced their first smartphone. According to a recent Nielsen report, 86% of consumers spend their time using and retrieving info from their smartphone apps, rather than the mobile web. This statistic probably has to do with the ease and accessibility that mobile applications provide, making the 7 hours and 43 min we spend on our Facebook app every month seem much more miniscule than the reality.…

A smartphone is a mobile phone built on a mobile operating system, with more advanced computing capability and connectivity than a feature phone. The first smartphones combined the functions of a personal digital assistant (PDA), including email functionality, with a mobile phone. Later models added the functionality of portable media players, low-end compact digital cameras, pocket video cameras, and GPS navigation units to form one multi-use device. Many modern smartphones also include high-resolution touchscreens and web browsers that display standard web pages as well as mobile-optimized sites. High-speed data access is provided by Wi-Fi, mobile broadband, NFC and Bluetooth. In recent years, the rapid developments of mobile app markets and of mobile commerce have been drivers of smartphone adoption.…
