December 1965, a group of students met at Christopher Eckhardt's home and discussed that they wanted to show support for the truce in the vietnam war. They decided they would wear armbands to school to support it, but the principles of the Des Moines school found out about their plan. A new rule in school was passed. That all students wearing any armband would be asked to remove it, and if they refused, they would be suspended. On the 16th of December, Mary Beth Tinker and Christopher Eckhardt both wore armbands to school, were asked to remove the armbands, and when they refused, they were send home. The next day, John Tinker had the same situation and and resulted the same way. In response to the suspension, the students sued the school district…
School uniforms should not be tolerated because in summer it can get really hot. When it gets too hot studens will be distracted and will not learn.Or when it is winter they mide get to cold and that will distract them.Or let's say a teacher likes it really cold, some other students don't like it, they should be able to put a jacked on.Uniforms are Practically 75% useless.(pros and cons of school uniforms.”Heth…
On the other hand, some teachers don’t want hats cause apparently they are distracting when they really aren’t. Even sometimes you get in trouble for wearing any hair accessories. Both sides, boys and girls would be happy and I am pretty sure we both want to be able to wear hair accessories without paying or having to be scared of getting in…
So I leave you with this; why shouldn’t hats be allowed in school? Should we exclude a harmless accessory because of paranoia, archaic beliefs, and incompetence in the ones who make the rules, or stand up for hats, justice, and the American Way. Stand against the outdated ways of the past and fight for a civilized world, where everything is pretty much the same except there are a few people wearing hats in school. Let’s hear it for hats! (Cue…
Several students feel it is an irrational rule. Students just comment it is a way of expressing themselves, yet they still don’t get to wear them. Hats are used for special event days, such as spirit week. One student points out, that if students are allowed to wear hats on those days, why not every day? A statement from an article on the matter, states that students should be allowed to wear hats in school, because they spend most of the daytime at school, not counting sleeping. Therefore, they should be allowed to pick their own clothing. A student even suggests that they think the school is just making rules, maintain order, and have more…
Have you ever been sent home from school because of what you were wearing? Maybe you should have been sent home, but you did not get caught? I am writing this paper because high school students across the country. and some parts of the world. get sent home and miss out on education simply because you could see their shoulders. (Buzzfeed) At Haven we have it pretty easy. In other areas it may be more difficult to find a cute outfit to wear. Some may even struggle to find something cute to put with or on their uniform that will not get them in any kind of trouble. School dress codes around the country. and some parts of the world, should be less severe. should not prevent individuality, and should not be difficult to follow.…
I feel like hats need to be worn because it can complete the style you're going for. Or maybe something happened to your head so you decided to wear a hat to cover that one spot. I also feel that hats can bring more satisfaction because others may like it. I don’t see what’s wrong with wearing a hat you can see their face. When you see them wearing, there is no threat to the hats or anything.…
Telling children how to dress is a violation of students rights. Students should be able to freely express themselves without having to answer to anyone. The first amendment of the bill of rights states , " congress cannot pass laws abridging the freedom of speech". Freedom is more than just words, it includes many different ways of expression, including clothing. What people wear is not just an expression of their fashion sense, it also is not just a statement of individuality.…
Schools should have jackets with hoodies because jackets without hoodie are hard to find in stores. Some kid feel the sam because ten year old belong says when i was walking it started raining really hard and I didnt have a jacket to keep me dry". Another reason The school board should allow jackets is because some kids might be a cooled and get shivers or get goose bumps on their skin, some might even be shy. Don't think this is just about how the students feel its about the teacher to because when teachers are a little bit sick their going to need a jacket to stay warm. Evan if a student accidentally drop or spill some thing on the teacher…
Have you ever been taken out of class, just because you were breaking dress code when all you did was wear leggings. Dress code are rules made to let you know what you can and can't wear at a school setting. Some rules are reasonable. But now dress codes are starting to get out out of hand and extremely under reasonable. The way students are handled when they break dress code is embarrassing and unecassary.…
Students get away with wearing many things that teachers wouldn’t identify as disruptive or hateful, but have a different meaning among students. For example, students wear shirts with pictures of tweets from parody twitter accounts specifically to offend other students. These tweets out of context mean nothing, allowing students wearing them serve as a disruption for the entire course of the school day without teachers knowledge. There are obviously issues with dress codes, but some still argue that students should have the power to dress as they…
In a recent survey, 77% of High School students either feel upset, mad or violated not being able to wear what they want to school. Students should have the right to wear what they please to school. At many schools, the dress code is unfair. It’s mostly only directed to females when it should be directed to males as much as it is to us girls. We should go to school to learn, not to be told we can’t wear what we want. This is causing students to get more and more angry about not being able to wear what they want.…
Many schools have opted out of allowing children and adolescents to free willingly choose what to wear to school, and instead have strictly enforced a school uniform policy with hopes of diverting student focus to mainly their schooling. Those who believe it has a positive effect claim that with all students looking equal they have nothing, and no one, to compete with or feel inferior to. Children, and adolescents especially, will always want to feel like their own individual. Taking away their right to express who they are with something as minuscule a graphic t-shirt leaves the door for other means of self-expression wide open, often leading to terrible choices that could possibly hinder them later in life.…
Students should have the right to be able to wear what they want with some restrictions of course. Some students might argue that school uniforms decrease bullying rate dramatically. This is proven false by many studies. if there are no clothes to bully people over bullies will just find something else like your hair, money, or even less stupid things such as a lie they make up about you (“Pros and cons of school uniforms).…
