In life, everything is earned and nothing positive or good comes our way for free. We have to earn the things we want and sometimes do some things we don’t necessarily want to do. “We do what we have to do, so we can do what we want to do” is a famous, yet genuine quote that can be considered as a life lesson. This phrase is applicable to college students since it is not necessarily “fun” to study, go to class, and do homework. However, in order to achieve what we want in our future and become successful we must do what we have to do, which is finish a college career. We have to attend university, so we can do what we want to do in our future.
Since I was a child, I was always entitled to do my duties before having my rights. If I wanted to watch TV or go out and play, I always had to finish my homework before. This procedure was a part of my daily routine and made me become a more responsible person. This way of living since a young age has allowed me to be more responsible today and will be remarkably important in my future.
I remember I always aspired for excellent grades. I was a good/average student but I always wanted to be a straight A+ student. In order to achieve what I wanted, I had to make an effort and do what I had to do. I had to always do my homework and work beyond expected so that I could exceed my standards. I managed to achieve high honors and felt extremely happy and proud of myself. I was responsible, and I did what I had to in order to achieve get I wanted.
We must work, act and plan the things that we want. Very little things in life come for free and so that we can get what we want, there are certain things we must first accomplish. If you want to be rich, you must work hard. This phrase is very helpful for my future and my life. It is important both professionally and morally

Today, many students like myself all over the America have walked down the hectic aisles of high school and have sat in some of the largest lecture halls in college. As kids, we were somewhat taught that going to school and getting an education would be the key to our success and thought that if we didn’t fulfill these expectations, we would end up homeless and live a terrible life. For so many years during my educational career this was the mentality that I believed in. Although this may be over exaggerated, I believe that this may hold some truth to the many college students all over the world. It is almost like we volunteer to go into debt and deal with all the stress that a college education brings us because we feel like it will get us…

Since the beginning of our education we are taught that we have to go to college to be successful. However it now has become a debate whether it is actually beneficial or non beneficial on applying to college. Such as a big percentage of students don't become successful after college and just end up in debt. Such as a majority of students think that a high school education is just enough for them to get by. This puts a lot of pressure on students to be competitive and continually having to be doing their best trying to be the ideal student. This gives another reason for students not going to college, as they feel they do not portray the idealistic student who meets the rigorous needs.…

When an average high schooler walks into senior year, the students are quickly bombarded by school counselors discussing which four year college they should apply too. At my high school, it was never second guessed whether the student would be attending college but was assumed. Most people have misconceptions that if they do not get a degree, they will unable to obtain a job and have an overall unsuccessful life. In Charles Murray’s, “Are Too Many People Going to College” and Freeman Hrabowski’s “College Prepares People for Life”, the two author both discuss the education system we have in place, however, Charles Murray provides a more convincing argument that college, contrary to popular belief, is just not for everyone.…

Peering into an 8:00 am class full of freshman college students, many observations can be made. There are students with their heads down, (obviously still listening to the professor) students with their pencils racing, students with their minds wondering, and students with their attention to the teacher. As one might note, not all students have their mind focused on what they paid for. Some people go through college as a party or just because it’s become one of societies “norms”; others have a set goal in mind. However, if used to its best ability, college allows one to gain an advantage over high school diploma holders, by attaining the knowledge, skillsets, and tools to achieve or explore their career goals.…

Today in America going to college is more of a necessity than an option; however, college is expensive. Most people cannot afford the upfront cost of tuition and fees along with the additional costs of dorms, meals, textbooks, and other supplies to attend college. Because of this many students resort to taking out student loans that could potentially cost them more in the future. With the cost of attending college constantly rising many people are finding themselves asking the question of rather or not college is really worth the cost. Also, some people feel that going to college is a waste of time. Some feel this way because not all jobs require degrees, so they feel there is no purpose in spending long hours at an institution obtaining one. Others feel that they should not be required to meet the general education requirements of most colleges, but should instead be able to use the time taking classes relevant to their career field. Many people argue that because of these reasons college is not worthwhile. However, despite these facts, going to college has several benefits that make it very valuable.…
