Ways to Save Environment
In the face of reports about catastrophic oil spills and the rapid increase of global warming, concerns for the environment tend to overwhelm individuals and make them feel helpless in efforts to promote pro-planet action. But everyone can boost awareness about the environment by implementing some basic eco-friendly habits.

Make Simple Changes to Go Green

Whether it’s a one-day per week contribution or a lifestyle change, here are 10 suggestions for simple things to do to prioritize and protect the planet.

Pick Up Litter. Place litter in the trash or recycle if possible. Not only does litter aesthetically affect natural surroundings, it poses health hazards as chemicals leach into soil and water sources.
Reassess Recycling Rituals. Participate in the local recycle program and place the appropriate plastics, glass, and paper products in recycle bins. Challenge kids to the task of collecting cans and bottles, then allow them to trade their collection for cash at a recycle center and use the money on a special treat. Reuse plastic and paper grocery bags or make a one-time purchase of a durable cloth bag. Many grocery stores now offer a discount off the grocery bill or other incentives for bringing reusable bags.
Plant a Tree. Trees purify the air we breathe, provide homes for countless creatures, help retain soil, and enhance the environment’s natural beauty. Sadly, hundreds of thousands of acres of trees are destroyed each year to make paper products, from newspaper to cigarettes, significantly damaging ecosystems. No access to land on which to plant a tree? Numerous organizations are dedicated to planting trees on the donor’s behalf to help sustain the environment.

While traveling they can use other means of transportation or carpool, and at home people are turning off electronics when not in use and overall reducing resource consumption. At work, similar to being at home, turn off electronics when not in use, but also make sure your employer and co-workers are informed of ways they can help. Consumables can be harder as they are things that cost money, where everything previously was a cost-free initiative. People say that little eco-friendly acts, such as picking up litter and recycling, can make a difference. Though this may be true, it is not enough. [p] We all have to do our parts to preserve the environment and put an end to the pollution, or at least to control it and keep it to a minimum. Try to get involved in activities that will make leaps and bounds, not steps, of progress towards ending pollution and preserving nature. [p] That’s much more productive than throwing a bottle into a recycling bin. If you want to take it a step further, donate to a group dedicated to saving the environment. Besides that, we can transfer the organic matter such as potato peelings, leftover food and leaves to a compost heap in the garden and used as a natural fertilizer for the plants. Next, we should reduce the usage of plastic bags because they are non-biodegradable and hard to recycle. Let us reuse the things that are still valuable instead of throwing it away. Donate your old clothes or things to those who are in need. Not only will you protect the environment, but you will also contribute to a good cause.…
