Was Henry Ford A Success Or Failure

Henry Ford the first surviving son of Mary and William Ford. Born in 1836 on his family’s farm located Wayne county, near the town of Dearborn Michigan(Staff, 2009).Henry decided at the age 16 farm work didn’t interest him. Henry took up work at a shipbuilding firm in Detroit, Michigan, were he began his apprenticeship as a machinist. In years to come Mr. Ford would hone his skills, and expand his knowledge to steam engines, and bookkeeping. Ford married in 1888 to Clara Ala Bryant (Staff, 2009), shortly after their union Ford would return to farming to care for his newly forming family, but his return to farming would be short lived. Ford took a job at the Edison Illuminating Company, and was promoted to chief engineer rather quickly (Staff, 2009). In 1896 while employed at (EIC) Mr. Ford built his first
Ford’s widely known for the creation of the automobile, His progressiveness goes unseen. Throughout my research, I noticed a commonality in each article citing his rather forward-thinking and his endless one liners, like” Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently” (Andersen, 2013). Mr. Ford, was before his time when it came to his workforce, he employed many minority groups, as well as the blind and disabled veterans thus setting the standard for open employment. Upon diving into my research of Henry Ford I’d say that his understanding of a diverse work force allowed him to be a good leader. By expanding his demotions of leadership through the complexities of mixing cultures, and utilizing these differences to continue his evolution as a leader. I would definitely see the benefit of surrounding myself with a divers confrere, in order to better understand the need for different perspectives. In a way, I have already adopted this characteristic by enlisting into the Air Force, however, I will be more open and receptive of different backgrounds and cultural beliefs to continue my maturation in
