Warm Blooded Animals
Much of Antarctica is very frigid. It is a largely undistinguished frozen desert where above subzero temperatures are almost never reached. Due to a mass of profound ocean water bringing elevated levels of nutrients to surface layers and long days that extent 24 hours for months on end, the Arctic Ocean is very fruitful. This productivity starts as phytoplankton, microscopic fast growing and reproducing plants that live in the top layer of the ocean. These are eaten by zooplankton. Then so on and so forth which feeds the fish that then feeds the mammals.
Most artic mammals are warm blooded animals, known as endotherms, and they maintain similar internal body temperatures to warm blooded animals in any other climate zone. Their body temperature
