Visual Essay-Personal Narrative
There were certain things I wanted to work on, after getting my grade for my Visual essay. I wanted to focus on staying on topic because that was one of the things that I struggled with and got points taken off because of that. I also wanted to work on my comma splices, and punctuation, which I usually struggle with and got points taken off. I also wanted to improve working on my tone, and the way I write or express myself while writing because sometimes, I get comments from the Writing Center, and from my professor. In my Rebuttal Essay, I think I did a very good job of staying on topic and worked on my context well. But I also struggled still with my comma splices, because I put all my focus on the content of the paper, and had little or

I am improving in revising my own essay. I have also noticed I have improved on analysis where I had trouble with. At the beginning of this quarter I would usually put one sentence or two and now I am getting the hang of analysis. Also, I am improving in Works cited. This time I think I did well in the organization because I put the archetypes in chronological order, but also a repetition of archetypes. For example, good, bad, good, bad because in life there is always obstacles and it is not always going to be good times. Overall, strengths were the length requirement, which I think I exceeded to do more than the minimum requirement that was 4 pages, improving in MLA format, and citing sources. I have improved in grammar and organization. I think I have improved in analysis and also in my analysis conclusion. My weaknesses, I felt were the paragraphs that did not relate back to my thesis and also the shapeshifter paragraph was not…

“Run Lola Run” directed by tom Twyker and “ The Third of May” by Francisco Goya both use visual techniques to convey their message to the audience and involve the audience in the experiences that the images create. The mediums in which both the composers choose to convey these messages are successful in communicating to the audience the types of experiences that are represented in the images…

A distinctively visual text influences our view of the world, and object or a person by the composer presenting us with new ideas and emotions that let us see from another point of view. There have been some challenges with drawing. For one, I got what seems to be a pretty late start, only starting to really draw my freshman year of high school, and while that may seem young to some, it seems like usually, people start to draw or to make comics when they are still in middle school. So when I did draw, it always seemed like my drawings were “falling behind” the drawings other artists of my own age group had created. After I had finished drawing something, I was always so proud of it… up until I visited the internet and saw all of the drawings that were so much better.…

My greatest influences are my parents and my brother. My brother suffered from Guillain- Barre Syndrome when he was eight. He lived in the hospital on an artificial ventilation for 97 days and later he had to continue physical therapy for at least ten years as he was completely paralyzed. My parents and my brother devoted their few years completely for his treatment. Today, my brother is a successful engineer working in the bay area. I learned that with dedication, determination and diligence we can achieve our dream in life…

As I look to the scenery I acknowledge its beautiful details. It is a wonder of the world that soon may fell between the cracks. A place that I will cherish all my life, a place that is one of a kind. Two hundred places I’ve seen only once. Vivid in my memory for a few years and but soon may be forgotten. But this did not. It will remain in me forever, and as scroll up it reached the end. The end of my photo album I have in my phone last summer vacation I had with my…

BOOM! That was the exhilarating sound of my first shot, and believe it or not I had actually hit something. It all started one morning in 1868 when I was home alone. I was only 8 years old, my father was dead and there was no one to hunt for the family. After an exciting experience as a young girl i went on to perform in carnivals and inspire other young girls to do great things.…

Thinking of creative ways on how to develop my paper is a strong suit I benefit while taking on a writing assignment. When given a topic to write about, I write down what comes into my head. I do not worry about the word count if the sentences make sense on paper or even punctuation. I write to avoid forget any important points I might have thought of. This method of writing is where my weaknesses show. Sometimes what I wrote makes sense in my head, but not on paper. Other challenges I face with writing assignments are time management and punctuation.…

My love for expression has led me to much success in my everyday life. Of course that an unlimited knowledge of writing would be impressive, but to me it would mean so much more. Writing has been like a getaway from all my problems, but in a way it has also been the solution. When I write, it feels as if I was telling the story of my life. I present myself with a problem that I am facing and make up and ending to the story as the solution to my problem. My ability to write touching essays has earned me much praise from teachers throughout my educational years. Having more talent and all the rules of writing at my disposal would be like an expressionist dream come true. This power would allow me to become a writer for the world and I would…

I failed to spell out numbers, capitalize the car’s name, indent one of my paragraphs, and the use of present tense in a sentence when the narrative was past tense. These comments made me realize how easy it is to mess up on the small details. I also learned that you’re supposed to spell out numbers under ten. That is something I didn’t know before essay number one. The positive comments were also helpful with showing me where my strengths are. For example, the title of my paper and the opening sentence. On the grading scale, I got a twenty-nine out of thirty, missing a point for my grammar. I had good qualities in the paper but after reading my paper, I would change some details to make the paper have better…

My writing has changed a lot in my first-semester essay writing class. I finally took a class that teaches me useful information and how to properly write an essay. Essay Writing overall was a fun experience it was a slow start for me in the beginning but once I was able to get the work done I was fine. There were a lot of positives to taking this class. I started the year struggling to come up with ideas to write about nut now I can brainstorm and put my words down on the paper better than ever. “If I could travel anyplace in the world for free, I would want to go to North Korea. I would love to see what it's like.” I struggled with proper punctuation and the use of commas and such throughout my high school career and I still struggle with it I hope to learn more about it in the near future. “Cars are one of the best inventions ever.” I needed some direction on making my sentences longer with getting to the point at the same time. There's a lot of small things I need to still improve on but I feel like I got a good start with the Essay Writing course. I got a lot of useful feedback from Mrs.Pennings on all my essays like when to use certain words and proper punctuation and some compliments the really…

I began writing stories when I was young. By the time fourth grade rolled around I had tried writing books but never finished them. Every writing project I started I put in a memory box and stored away. My teacher read interesting books to my class. She would take two weeks to read a 500 page book. I enjoyed cuddling up next to watch each expression she expressed. Every couple of months my teacher set up blanket forts and let us read independently all day long. We’d read beside the light of a lamp and bring our own pillows to lay on. This was my favorite time of the year. From there, she let us write stories and read them aloud. My teacher helped develop my love for writing.…

I felt this sense of fear, but I knew it was just nervousness. It caused my whole body to tremble. I creeped onto the field and pass by the fifty girls and all of the coaches. Just me walking by everyone gave me this ginormous knot in my stomach, it made me feel like I was going to pass out right on the field. I was breathing heavy, like I just ran a marathon. I was beyond nervous just to be the new girl on the field. I was scared of what the girls thought of me, and how the coaches thought I would play and adapt to the sport. I had never even picked up a lacrosse stick and the girls were passing, catching and shooting on goal: how does a new player get to there if they were two week late into the season? I was terrified I would never get to the level of the rest of the team.…

My self-efficacy was extremely low the first time we climbed the rock wall. When we first climbed the rock wall, I never thought I would get over my fear of heights. Over time I found that subconsciously my self-efficacy improved. Muscle memory definitely helped my self-efficacy improve. The first time I climbed the wall it was a very awkward experience. During my first climb I was utilizing many muscles that I do not normally use. Gradually I became more comfortable on the wall, until eventually I found myself not thinking nearly as much as I had done on previous climbs. Another tool that increased my self-efficacy, was the use of goal setting. Setting goals helped me see my progress and motivated me throughout my climbs. One of my…

Who am I as a writer? To properly answer that question, in my belief, one must first analyze themself as a person. Everyone projects a little of his or her personality into their work, no matter what it may be, but especially when it comes to the stylistic habits someone uses while writing. Every person’s voice is unique, so naturally every piece of writing will have certain characteristics distinctly used by that particular writer. My style of writing is a depiction of my thought process. When reading something I’ve wrote, while it may take you awhile to get through it all, contains glimpses of my life, sarcastic comments, and generally a lengthy beginning. All of these aspects bring a little of myself into my writing, which creates an overall genuine tone that ties everything together.…
