Video Vignette #2: Natasha’s Story HBO Documentary Up until the mid 1980s, using DNA evidence to help determine the perpetrator of a crime was not in existence. When the method became an accepted scientific practice, DNA rape kits were established to confirm that a rape has occurred and help determine who perpetrated it. Natasha Alexekno is one of many women who have been a victim of rape. However, she is fortunate in the fact that she got a rape kit conducted after the crime, that ended up helping them find the man who assaulted her.
