One full year of academic study (30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, 720 formal classroom hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. To be creditable education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, college or university.

College: Colleges award credits by semester or quarter hours. One year of college is generally composed of two semesters equally 30 semester hours or three quarters equally 45 quarter hours. Two years is 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours, and so on. You will need to use semester hours when combining college education with experience. If some or all of your college credits are quarter hours, you must change them to semester hours. This is done by dividing the total number of quarter hours completed by 1.5. For example, 12 quarter hours divided by 1.5 equals 8 semester hours. To combine with experience, take your total number of semester hours (in excess of 60 semester hours) completed and divide by 60 semester hours. Then take your total months experience and divide by 12. The last step is to add these two numbers together. If the result is one or more, you have the required combination to meet the
