Components of leadership does not necessary enter the human body by nature nor by injection, concluding that there is action taken by an individual to learn or acknowledge the importance of judgement, justice, loyalty, initiative, tack, courage, integrity, endurance, and decisiveness. If the person choose to adopt these characteristics, it will definitely determine what type of leader the individual is or will become. The setting of leadership roles, responsibilities, and behavior changes depending on the career field, however the basic build blocks does not change. The Marines Corps teaches their recruits in basic training the fundamental traits of a leader within the ranks of the branch of service with the acronym JJDIDTIEBUCKLE. Each letter of the this acronym represents a trait that leaders should acquire and maintain within their professional and personal lives. There are fourteen traits, however the highly visible traits are judgement, loyalty, initiative, tack, courage, integrity, endurance, justice, and decisiveness. The culture of the Marines is the purpose to lead other Marines and take charge. This competitive nature creates a platform that offers Marines the opportunity that they would otherwise receive in any careers or branch of service. The demonstration of all traits determines a Marine’s ethics, and the observation by his peers will follow him because of his character. Integrity and loyalty creates a bond that translates into trust, which allows cohesiveness among Marines therefore, creating teamwork that results in successful mission accomplishments. Leaders are made with knowledge, and from the knowledge they gain they will be able to make better judgement. Experienced leader also are equip with being more decisive and patients. Although, there are many characteristics that a good leaders should possess focus of self improvement and the realization of growth is the most important. Implementation and acceptances of policies are miles apart, however not impossible to achieve. Proper planning, budget, timing, and introduction will accomplish the set goals. The execution of introducing new regulation should have lasting effects with precision, clarity, and directness. Leaders calculate each decision as well as the response from action, however the reaction is not always predictable.     There are many awards given out for leadership; however, watching Marines succeed because of the time and effort that their leaders have invested in them can be far more rewarding than any medal or certificate. There are many different methods and theories on leadership; however, some approaches are almost universal amongst leaders. Leadership is a continuous process, which requires limitless dedication that will constantly push Marines to their limits. Leaders should know not to fraternize with their subordinate Marines because of the ramifications that this causes, such as a loss of respect for the leader, and a loss of overall discipline. Leaders should know how to approach their Marines in any situation, and strive to understand their Marines’ strengths and weaknesses in order to help the Marines improve themselves. The subordinates who have good leaders will often put forth an extra effort because their leaders have set higher standards by challenging them, and they will strive to improve their weaknesses because the leader has held them accountable for their actions.
