Use Of Dictatorship In George Orwell's Animal Farm
Animal Farm is supposed to be for animals to escape the people’s cruelty but is it possible for the animals to have their freedom and equality if Napoleon is just as bad as the people? In his novel Orwell has a message spoken throughout Animal Farm that says whenever and wherever animals want to be free there’s always someone higher that is bigger and has more power. In Animal Farm, George Orwell uses dictatorship, individuality and hardship to reveal how the animals lost their freedom and equality.

He decides to use hardship to describe the animal’s loss of freedom and equality. The animals work hard at their work to make a society that is free of whips and human cruelty but there’s only one issue and that’s Napoleon. He believes that putting animals to do more work and do it harder that it will be a society that will be better. He doesn’t see that since he’s doing this that the animals are starving, becoming more tired and becoming older faster. All animals are hard workers but the ones that does most of the work is Boxer. He does so much that he gets hurt, “Boxer!” she cried, “How are you?” “It is my lung,” said Boxer in a weak voice… “Fools! Fools!” shouted Benjamin… “Fools! Do you not see what is written on the side of that van?”… “ ‘Alfred Simmonds, Horse Slaughterer and Glue Boiler, Willingdon. Dealer in Hides and Bone-Meal. Kennels Supplied. Do you not understand what that means? They are taking Boxer to the knacker’s!”(Orwell pg.118, 119,122) Boxer is the strongest out of all the animals on the farm but also the one that works harder and harder every day. Hardship is being used to show that all animals and Boxer work and work just to have some of their freedom and equality on the farm.
